I also don’t know whether to see what my solicitor thinks about this? Any help appreciated 😬1

Caz_Mnaz said:What were the issues @baileykxo? Homebuyer reports tend to be over cautious and at first look can seem like the end of the world!! Have you got quotes for work? If it essential works then you're well within your rights to renegotiate priceAs a FTB it’s a bit scary but we aren’t to worried as it is liveable but it’s going to cost us a lot to fix the issues that they should have already fixed or at least some of whilst they’ve been living there.2

@Caz congratulations, you had quite a time getting there so must be thrilled.
Solicitors thinks we will definitely exchange and hopefully complete by end of the month. I'm expecting the survey results back any day now and don't expect any shocks - never know though. My in-laws are selling and have had an epic amount of enquiries which seem stupid, "who do you have your phone line with", "what species of rose is the bush" I told our solicitor I do not want them sending out ludicrous ones to my seller, though she replied that they are obligated to which made us both laugh because of what that implied.0 -
A very belated congrats to @Natbag and everyone else who has Completed!!Commiserations to those of us still stuck in this hellish buy/sale quagmire. My sympathies to the previous posters waiting on freeholder responses to enquiries. I have been in this situation for over 2 months now. I think we are down to our last one but it is so painfully slow as my freeholder will only answer one query at a time and then takes days to respond to the next one. My buyer wants to move in before end of June and I still do not have an Exchange or Completion date as my solicitor will not even tentatively suggest one until all enquiries have been answered. I also seem to have the worlds most laid back solicitor who is responsive but seems to have a 'what will be, will be' attitude to it all. When I send e-mails stressing the tight timeframes, urgency etc she sends back a couple of lines and saying she will update 'in due course'.So I have started packing and have quotes for storage and removals etc but with a heavy heart as I genuinely do not know what will unfold over the next 3 weeks. We plan to move into a rental before buying and I'm viewing 6 properties over the next few days but am worried about putting down non refundable deposit in case the sale falls through. Rentals around here are plentiful but we are in a very expensive part of the country and really can't afford to lose that kind of money. So stressful. I last bought a property over 10 years ago when I was carefree, single and childless. If and when this whole horrible saga is over I will NEVER move again. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats to @Natbag and @Caz_Mnaz - been watching your progress for a while so great to see good news this week.
We're still waiting on news. 7 in the chain, 6 ready to exchange, 1 unknown. Sadly that one is in the middle and we're at the bottom.
I feel like it's the solicitors we should be chasing, but mine are uninterested in anything other than our immediate vendors. The estate agents seem to be talking to the whole chain and providing more updates, but I'm very much aware that they're not actually controlling progress at all, so chasing them doesn't really get me anywhere...3 -
Afternoon All,
We have exchanged this morning - completion fixed for 25/06/21 which is a big relief as we have made the stamp duty deadline.
Although we have had a relatively quick process overall; pretty much 4 weeks to get to this stage, we are part exchanging our current home with a developer, and our new house is the final one available on their development and ready now, so we've had not had a huge chain to contend with. I am grateful for that as this has been stressful enough at times!
Our current home is for sale with 2 agents on behalf of the developer; we've had three viewings this week already, which we've done in between trying to get some some major de-cluttering underway as we have been off work this week.
We have given ourselves sometime now to get packed up, ready for completion on the 25/06/21, rather than trying to rush to complete any sooner.
I will keep popping in this thread as it's been a huge help over the last month, and i'm rooting for all those waiting to exchange.

Aww good stuff @alipops1986. I'm clearing the dog out to his grandparents before I can start packing.... He's a rescue and gets really stressed when he sees boxes or cases as his last family handed him in when they moved, poor mite2

Hey! Not had chance to read properly as we have no wifi yet, but congrats to Caz and those who have exchanged or completed!
We completed on Thursday, I saw the funds go into my account mid morning for my sale, my boyfriend the same from his, and our purchase completed around midday. Luckily the previous owners let us have the garage key from 10am, but it was still 9pm by the time we had loaded and unloaded everything from my boyfriend’s house, and then done the same with my storage unit and returned the van. Since then we’ve pretty much been playing Jenga with boxes, as the ones we wanted were at the back of the garage and the ones we didn’t need urgently were in the house. My boyfriend’s sofa won’t fit in the living room because the door frames are tiny, but as I didn’t like the sofa anyway I’m overjoyed as it means I get to go choose a new one and his will be going in the garage conversion/man cave when it’s done, ha ha! I’m so exhausted, I managed 5 hours sleep the nights before and after moving, and today I ache everywhere. But the house is gorgeous, the kids love it, we love it, and it’s worth all the stress of the last six months for sure.
Good luck everyone on the rest of your journey!
