  • Hi, I'm new to this thread but ive been reading it for a few weeks!

First time buyer here and i put my offer in 3rd October 2020 and still have not moved in, there's only 3 in the chain and the top of the chain house is vacant, apparently they moved into rented so are paying a mortgage AND rent!
I don't even know what they're waiting for and I don't even know WHO is waiting for this last document.

Does everyone else's solicitor on here barely say anything in their emails to you? I email once a week if that, I can't believe how little these "professionals" say to you in response and phone calls are impossible. And the company im using was recommended by my sister is law who's moved loads of times and always used these.

The estate agent 4 weeks ago told me everything was done and that "we will discussing dates next week definitely!" 4 weeks later.... nothing.
Last week the last thing I heard was that the solicitor at the top of the chain needs "a document" and that they don't know how get a duplicate and have been told how to. What the ! Does that mean?? Has anyone heard that before? That's the last I heard last week from the shirty estate agent, its absolutely ridiculous.

Our mortgage expires mid May and I had saved most my annual leave at work aswell for the move but I can't carry many over to April so I'm basically off work all this week and I was last week and the week before aswell.

I cant believe how unprofessional this process is!

Yep. Mine rarely even responds, and then avoids most of my questions with only very vague answers. I've emailed twice, written a letter and asked her assistant to leave a message asking her to update me and I'm still waiting over a week later. We are ready to exchange, but I don't know about the other people in the chain. All I want is an update, and likely timescales. We are needing to complete urgently and certainly within the next 30 days, and she does not seem to be grasping this fact. I've even now chased the estate agents for an update, and have heard zilch there either. Give me strength.

  • I've absolutely given up! This is to exhausting! We started with our sale Jan 2020 and 3 weeks ago we had an exchange date... today, we are in the unknown.

I swear if this falls through that's it! I am not going to sell! I am using the equity to pay the mortgage off on this place and moving back to my parents house , 5 bed house and they would love to have the grand kid about and I would love to have the childcare help. The I am renting out this place to save a deposit!

It is exhausting @Insomniac101 - although you've been at this a lot longer. Hope things start progressing soon.
Just had an email from the EA, who says my partner's buyers are still waiting on some enquiries, which is why our solicitor won't discuss dates. Sigh. These buyers were first in the chain, but seem to be the last to get anything done. Just replied to ask about my buyers, I'm hoping they are ready to proceed as they were awaiting last enquiries 10 days ago, which we replied to, and that was meant to be all done now but it was never confirmed.

  • Hi everyone, we are back in the game over here. We found a lovely new property that we actually love more than the initial one. Our lender is happy to move the mortgage offer over to our new property, now we just need to find an agreement with the new vendor in regards to price ... eek :)

    Well it still hasn't rung...
  • We were supposed to exchange and complete tomorrow (date suggested by the sellers side!) and now we’ve found out the office handling the house the seller is buying is not open on a Wednesday.

Surely this is easy to figure out in advance their opening times and base a date around that. It’s like they picked a date out the air and didn’t realise the date was a Wednesday and they don’t open on a Wednesday.

Can you call them if it gets to 4:30? Ask for an update?
