Mazda 6 Recall faulty driver seat

  • I've just come across this thread. My mazda 6 (2009) is currently in my local garage having a replacement seat fitted as the fittings failed and my seat was largely unattached to the car. I don't use a Mazda garage and they have managed to get a replacement seat from a car recycling place. I never received any recall notice and certainly unaware of the issue. Would I have any way of getting my repair bill reimbursed?

It would never occur to me to check for recall notices just because I needed a repair. Is there anything that I can do.

    I also drive 2009 mazda 6 .

I got the recall letter in aug 2017 and had the work done in oct 2017 at the dealer.

If you did not get a letter you can check if your car is subject to a recall from the govt mot check website as it has the recall details below it:

    https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk

The recall dealt with seat bolts inspection and boot struts, the work only took 30 mins and they replaced the struts, if the seat/bolts needed replacement it would have taken 90 mins.

If your car is subject to recall and after you get the work done i would still book with dealer as the dealer MUST NOTIFY DVSA the work has been done against your car reg, and the recall mark will be removed from the mot check website (your current repairer will not be able to do this).
