Mazda 6 Recall faulty driver seat
I have just taken my Mazda 6 TS 2 2008 back to the showroom due to receiving a recall letter from Mazda and the DVSA. It has been established our car has the fault. The driver seat adjuster link is cracked. We have been told under no circumstance to use the car till they can find a fix. They don't make that car seat any more and as of yet do not know what they are going to do, In the mean time they are contacting enterprise to give us a hire car. What I would like to know is what my rights are, we have had to bring the car home as they have to many in their repair shop. Is there a time limit as the mechanic my husband spoke to did not sound very positive, I would just like to know my rights before contacting Mazda. Thanking you for your help

Googling suggests this is a problem in Australia and maybe the USA.
Are you in the UK.
I am and have two 2009 Mazdas that I have had from new and I have heard nothing of this recall.0 -
Oh my goodness yes Kent and I am sure 2009 was one of the years, I would advise your to contact Mazda to check, our letter arrived around the 12th June, today was the earliest we could get booked in. There were two problems the other with the tailgate support struts, that was an easy fix, which they had to do on our car also0

Interesting as nothing on the vosa website but dvsa suggests UK!
Anyway wherever you are suggest you get written confirmation that they are covering car hire and confirm what insurance arrangements will be.
As regards rights that may depend upon where you are but would expect them to either provide a fix or the market value of the car ignoring this issue which would presumably make the value close to zero, albeit at this age guess market value is not much anyway.0 -

Mine are still serviced in the dealer network and one is due a service in the next few weeks so I'll ask when I book it in. Thank you.
Seems 2s, 3s and 6s may be affected.
Edit: As mine are still serviced at the main dealer it could be that they were checked at their last services and found to be ok. In which case I wouldn't necessarily expect to be told.0 -
I had a look out of interest,
the VOSA reference number is R/2017/150MOUNTING POINTS FOR SEAT RUNNER MAY FAIL Description : One or more of the mounting points between the runner and the driver’s seat may fail. Remedial Action : On affected vehicles, inspect the driver’s seat frame to determine if seat lifter links are damaged. If no damage is evident, fit reinforcement brackets and “push nuts”. If damage is present to the seat lifter link, replace seat frame. If damage is restricted to stabilizer bar then the bar will be repaired plus brackets and” push nuts” fitted. Possibly because the search dates default to January 2017 as most recent, you have to set the to: date as September 2017 to find recent recalls.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Well here's a random bit of strangeness.....
Yesterday, we decided to go out for the day, loaded up my Mazda 6 2007 ( Facelift mark 2 ) kids in the back wife in the passenger seat. We went out for the day. We got back to the car, got in, then I back flipped in to the kids laps....My drivers seat ejected me !!!
I got under the seat after exiting via the rear door....and found that the whole seat had snapped on a rail....the whole thing snapped off clean !
So, panic like you do, Ebay got fired up and I found a seat and hit buy now in blind panic. This morning I got an email from a lovely lady at this salvage place saying it was not compatible...then a few moments later another email saying she had a system error and it was indeed compatible, but in blind panic I cancelled the order and swiftly called my local Mazda dealer to check the compatibility. After giving them my Reg number....they told me there was a recall for the car seat !!!!
So now I am waiting for a call from Mazda. Why oh why could it not have been a bulb or something that went.0 -
The mk2 Mazda6 was facelifted around 2010, a 2007 mk2 would be pre facelift. It may be worth asking the Mazda dealer if there's a recall on the tailgate struts as well, I have a 2011 Mk2 FL Mazda6 estate and just had recalls done for both the seat (to avoid it collapsing as happened to you) and the tailgate struts which can also collapse due to some issue with the anti-corrosion process.
If your car is in getting the seat down and the second recall does apply to you then you may as well get it done at the same time.

I need some advice regarding the Mazda6 seat recall. Mazda Oldham have had my car since 22/9/17 and I've been informed today that the expected date of delivery for my replacement seat is August. I need to know where I stand legally regarding lost tax,MOT, even a possible buy back. I've phoned Mazda UK,no help at all:mad:0
