It appears this issue isn!!!8217;t limited to older plates. I have a 2012 6 Sport currently with a dealer and the hire car on it!!!8217;s way.
Started with issues over the weekend with the seat clunking down and acting like a rocking chair if it was repositioned. This morning it completely came off the pins on the right side. There is a definate failure of the adjuster link tack weld on the right side of the seat and it!!!8217;s now under !!!8216;investigation!!!8217;. I have my own pictures and a video of said loose seat as well.
Interestingly enough Australia and US have recalls in place for this issue for 2, 3 & 6 registered between 2007 & 2012. I can only hope the UK follows suit very soon. Luckily I was on a side road having decided not to take it on the motorway.
In all fairness Mazda UK customer relations have been great so far and I will be getting a hire vehicle through them in the morning.
Let!!!8217;s see what happens next0 -

As far as I'm aware it's all mk2's that are affected, both pre and post facelift.

Mazda Oldham have had my car since 22/9/17 and I've been informed today that the expected date of delivery for my replacement seat is August. I need to know where I stand legally regarding lost tax,MOT, even a possible buy back. I've phoned Mazda UK,no help at all:mad:
Do you have a courtesy car?0 -
Magna Mazda in Salisbury serviced my car last week. They flagged up this problem. It is booked in for the week after Easter to have the seat welded, by a third party, and that should be that.0

I spoke to the local dealer Monday, they checked by VIN and categorically told me my vehicle wasn’t under recall for the seat issue, as did Mazda UK.
However, having sent photos of the crack to lift bar tack weld and the update yesterday of the right sight of the seat dropping out of the mounts completely whilst I was driving they have been going all out to get this sorted. I hadn’t been told not to drive it by anyone but had decided to use back roads instead of the motorway until I heard back from them.
I’ll be calling the dealer later this afternoon for an update, so I will hopefully know a little more then. However, speaking to the guy at the local dealer, he told me I’m not the first and won’t be the last! In all honesty I think they need to expand the recall, when the seat dropped the vehicle swerved slightly from my reaction, this was a low speed, I dread to think how it could have turned out doing 60-70mph on the motorway. Makes me feel sick just thinking about it0 -
So, got my car back. It was indeed the same fault the recall was issued for for the 09/10 builds. It has been repaired, they also did the tailgate struts whilst they had it. It feels sturdier than it ever has in the time I!!!8217;ve owned the vehicle. Just for the record it!!!8217;s a 2012 Mazda 6 Sport Estate
In all fairness, Mazda UK and the local dealer have been great. I had a courtesy car delivered to use the entire time and left it with the dealer when i picked mine back up.
They really do need to recall other vehicles though, not just hope it gets picked up during a dealer service.0 -

It sounds like they've made a mistake as I have a 2011 Mazda 6 Sport Estate (exactly the same car, mk2 facelift) and I received the notification from Mazda the recall needed done for the seat and tailgate struts.
The recall does cover all mk 2 Mazda 6's although there's a question mark over the cars with electrically operated seats, Mazda said they weren't covered by the recall but it seems they should be. I've seen some people get the recall done on that type of seat but it's taken far longer.
No courtesy car where while they did the work but no attempts to get me to buy anything or a car service or similar so that was a bonus. It does amuse me that the recall was handled much better on my much cheaper mountain bike.

I emailed head of CR at Mazda UK this afternoon to say they should extend the recall to cover later models also and was told they will ‘take on board the feedback’, I read this as, no we’re not going to do that. Also that parts for North America and Australasia are from different component suppliers/batches hence the recall being different for them.
Like I said in an earlier post both the dealer and Mazda UK categorically told me my vehicle was not covered by the seat recall and only had a tailgate recall on it, keep in mind they couldn’t find my car by reg search only by VIN (that’s been sorted out now too!) but they would look at the pictures I sent prior to the seat failing completely on the right hand side. Even the VOSA website says only the tailgate issue. It doesn’t have the electric seat, so it can’t be that... so I’m a little confused by you saying you received a notification for both. I’m guessing you are in the UK John?
My gut feeling speaking to the guy at the dealers is that the dealers are aware there is an issue and if you have your car serviced by them they will check for the fault and make good but other than that you’re on your own.
My recommendation to anyone who has this issue is to deal with Mazda UK and make sure you have pictures you can send them, they know full well it’s a problem.
It really irks me because they are risking people getting into accidents because they won’t officially extend the recall at the moment. Any other time I would have been heading to work on the motorway not the side roads0 -

My car has always been serviced by the main dealer but I got a recall notice from the DVLA as well0 -

I'm in the UK yes and I received notification for both the tailgate recall and the seat recall. My gut feeling speaking to the guy at the dealers is that the dealers are aware there is an issue and if you have your car serviced by them they will check for the fault and make good but other than that you’re on your own.
This definitely isn't the case, my car hasn't been in a Mazda garage for years - they have to contact owners if there is a DVSA recall like this one. The letter came from Mazda UK rather than the local dealer although it did have a DVSA badge at the top as well with an attached list of Mazda dealers and a tear off form to send back if I no longer owned the car. I received a similar letter for my mk 2 Octavia TDI VRS which again, hadn't been near an official dealer for some time but because it was a DVSA recall (due to the danger of an injector failing when the car was at speed), they had to contact owners to get the recall done.My recommendation to anyone who has this issue is to deal with Mazda UK and make sure you have pictures you can send them, they know full well it’s a problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by extend the recall, it currently covers all MK 2 models and on the Mazda forums I've seen cars with a variety of ages of Mazda get the recall notice for both issues.
