I wouldn't bother replying. You will probably get a "final, final offer" next. After that a" really final offer" followed by a "we really mean it final offer".

For future reference don't send anything signed for again. Use first class but with free proof of posting. This is available at any Post Office. Essentially if you can prove something was sent then if they claim they didn't get it they have to give convincing evidence they didn't. Merely saying they didn't get it isn't enough, they have to actually show they didn't.

Absolutely no need to panic. The worst that they can do is take you to court and win, but imo that is unlikely, read about grace periods In the BPA Code of Practice.

Ignore threatening letters from debt collectors, they are powerless.
These companies thrive because people take them seriously.

Thank you. So should I try to contact them in response to this letter ? It gave me til today to pay the 'reduced' amount or do I just wait for the next letter? They've not replied to or acknowledged my letter

@Fairy - the posters on here are giving you good advice.

As said, you either pay up or front it out and see if it goes to court, if it does you file a defence and hopefully win and pay nothing (you may even get a small amount of costs awarded but possibly not).

Either way, you will get many letters from Debt Collectors, its important you distinguish between a letter from a Debt Collector (powerless, they are just trying to frighten you and are in reality begging for money) and a Solicitor (e.g. Gladstones, who despite being solicitors are really mostly a pretty bad litigation factory who lose a lot of the properly defended cases they file).

If you receive a letter and are in doubt, redact all personal details, scan it, host it on tinypic and then post a link here and a regular will check it for you.

What you are waiting for now is the REAL LBC, until then you don't have to do anything further. But if and when you get a LBC you must not ignore that and you must deal with it and the subsequent MCOL to avoid any silly default CCJ being registered against you.

In the meantime as people advise here, keep ALL correspondence for 6 years and never send letters recorded delivery (waste of money), just use free Proof of Posting.

I know someone who sent several letters to a well known PPC just to prove a point, allegedly none ever arrived despite getting Proof of Postings ... simple fact is that just simply won't wash in front of a DJ in court as even the Royal Mail can't mess up that many times to the same address.

As advised, you don't need to reply to this latest letter as it's not an LBC (or certainly not a compliant one).

If sending a reply makes you feel better then you can send an email/letter denying any liability for the charge and saying any court proceedings will be vigorously defended with costs sought.

What is the actual 'contravention' ukcps have accused you of? And is the letter from them or a debt collector such as DRP/ ZZPS?

Keep the tracking proof that they signed for your letter - you did keep that proof?

It will help you show their unreasonableness in court.

Hello again! I've just had a letter from DRP debt recovery plus Ltd. Saying they are acting for their client UKCPS Ltd and I need to pay £160 by 4 /10/17 and if I don't they will recommend their client takes me to court. They (ukcps) still haven't responded to any if my letters. What's the advice now please? Many thanks, again!
