Does UHT milk taste the same as fresh milk?

Probably a daft question... however I've noticed that uht milk seems to be considerably cheaper than fresh milk.

However I'm not keen on milk with a "funny" flavour to it (thanks to my mother forcing me to eat cereal with sour milk on it when I was little).

So basically, does uht milk taste like normal milk on cereal!

Buy one bottle and try it - people's tastes are different.

Some prefer UHT milk; some think it tastes the same as fresh milk; others (like me) think it tastes weird.

Definitely tastes different, but that doesn't necessarily mean you won't like it

Buy some, try it. If you don't like it as a drink or in tea or coffee, use it up in sauces, custard, rice pud, homemade yogurt, porridge etc.

It's minging. It's always been minging. Few people actually like it, to be honest.

I can tell the difference in tea and on cereals. It always tastes slightly off to me - would rather do without.

Could be worse though - could be sterilised. Can you still even get that?

It doesn't taste the same but it's not as awful as dried milk powder, in my opinion.

The moneysaving option is to make porridge with water.

I make mine with water and then put cream on top.

Full fat UHT It has a 'malty' taste. Sem-skimmed UHT less so.

I switched to UHT semi-skimmed milk about two years ago and haven't noticed the difference at all I use it in everything from cereals, porridge etc to tea, coffee cooking and never had a problem.I got fed up of milk going off in the fridge as living alone I took me ages to use it up.I now buy 6 one litre cartons for around £.294 in Aldis and have never had sour milk since, plus I never run out of milk and I can store it in the cupboard and only keep a carton at a time in the fridge.
As other posters have said buy a carton (you can get them in half litres as well ) and give it a go.I never drink milk on its own anyway
