Does UHT milk taste the same as fresh milk?

We use UHT all the time.

I started using it 50 odd years ago when it only came in large triangle packs I drink skimmed which wasn't always available from our milkman so when the UHT packs were introduced, they were great for me.

It does taste different. I don't think it's as noticeable in skimmed but I'm told it is in semi and full-fat, and probably more so if you drink it as a glass of milk, rather than using in a recipe or in a hot drink.

It's so useful for storing - we never run out of milk.

None of us like sterilized though - that's something quite different - yuk.

I can tell it's UHT not ordinary milk iyswim but it's fine for use in an emergency. Mr LW can't tell the difference at all.

it costs under a quid so I think buying some to try is very low risk!
