Last post today - just to say that I've cut the grass and, because it was dry, in record time.
And I've found how to make my vegan brownies a little more palatable; I sprinkled them in dried raspberry powder and then poured cream over them. :rotfl:
After reading about this the other day I've discovered the joys of
http://talkingpicturestv.co.uk/ - a Freeview and Freesat channel which shows all the oldie films, a real pleasure.
TA - the joys of good old sports days. So glad to read that you all had a great time.0 -
Another one here who's DH says not to get a smartmeter until they are at least made interchangeable between suppliers.
DH is still in bed. I had lunch and then almost immediately had stomach pains and was sick. I've had a sleep and feel a bit better but DD rang to say she was feeling sick so I think the three of us have been struck down by some sort of bug. I wonder how SiL is?0 -

I do remember thinking that if I am forced to have one I would at least make sure I manage to postpone it until then. I put in regular readings online as well as many others on here, and don't see the need to have one. I don't like that idea of them, I think I would feel 'snooped on' in my own home. Probably silly I know, but I can't help it.

Afternoon all
Had a busy afternoon as I cleaned the weeds from the patio and the pots, hindered, sorry helped by next doors black kitten called Marmite. I think her family have gone on holiday but have left the kitchen window open and someone is coming in to feed her. However I think she needed a playmate - me. (Is it wrong to admit that I'm more of a cat person than a dog person
)
Then when DH came back we cut the front hedge again, had a bit of a domestic about how to do it. ( would have done it myself but DH has bought a new hedge cutter and it's too big for me to manage ).
I'm back on my soapbox again as local council have asked us to comment on their services. Bet they wish they hadn't asked :rotfl:.
Gers sorry that your wind is up again :rotfl::rotfl:.
HollyH I totally agree about having a smart meter. We pay our bills on time, every quarter and put in a reading if the meter man has missed us. Also, if they get rid of the meter men, would the companies give us a rebate? I suspect not, more profits for them !
Off now to have a lie down in a darkened room to regain my composure :rotfl:
Snoozer I hope you and yours feel better soonFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

We discovered this channel by accident last week! Edgar Lustgarten! Now that was a long forgotten name from my childhood days, talking about Scotland Yard! We watched an intriguing little film set in Coverack in the 50's about a baby found in a boat. The characters were played by villagers, with a professional narrator telling the story. Some real gems popping up that I had long forgotten. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Judi, sorry to hear about youngest's crash and his finger. Good that no major injuries happened and - as others have suggested, perhaps this might help him understand that he needs to slow down.
I am so tired from work that I'd like to go to bed now but that woukd be daft.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good evening everyone, thanks to Holly for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs one.
It's been a beautiful day here warm & sunny with a slight breeze perfect for sitting out so I've spent most of the day enjoying the sunshine and working my way through my stack of library books - I do enjoy a good crime novel!
Judi - I'm glad it was only the cars that were injured though hopefully your son's finger will be okay. Sometimes the only way to learn is the the hard way!
Re smart meters, I had one installed in March and it certainly made me a bit more savvy with my usage, I don't deprive myself but had got into the habit of bunging stuff in the tumble drier rather than giving it another day on the rack and by not doing that and few other bits my DD has dropped by £15 a month. I could get it down further but I'm not inclined to as that would impinge on how I like to live my life.
I hope everyone has a good evening x0 -

AncientOfDays I can't stop thinking about your non-opening back door. I know it has been a long time now and I can't comprehend why nothing has been done. It is a real fire hazard and after the recent, very tragic tower block tragedy, I urge you to pester yet again for the door to be replaced as a matter of urgency...it really is not on
Judi, glad your youngest is OK. That's all the matters really and hopefully a lesson learnt.
Gers I concur re the Jack Reacher books, but they are light and easy, if predictable, reading when you just need a bit of 'time out'. I like Peter James too..I have a copy of 'A Twist of a Knife' on my charity shop finds still to read pile.
Hope everyone is ok, taking good care of themselves and I wish you all a peaceful, sleep filled nightx

Judi glad he's ok. Hopefully he'll be a bit more careful - particularly when the insurance bill comes in!Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0

Well youngest is in plaster up to his elbow. He's got another appointment at the hospital on Thursday. More scans maybe.
He's spent the day moping and sorting insurance.
We spent part of the evening with Adonis. He was sunbathing earlier in a skimpy pair of swimming trunks. Wow just wow!
