But sloe gin is very good for the singing voice, .
That's interesting. I've found whisky and water good for the voice when doing the local panto. Other members of the cast seem to think I've make that up, but it really does help my throat.

No, I'm deadly serious, for once. :p

If one spends most of the year in the countryside, being fairly quiet, and then indulges in a full-on week of rehearsals and performances lasting 2hrs each, the old vocal chords can take a right hammering.

Add to that the fact that 30 of us are squashed into a dressing room about the size of someone's lounge, it's usually February, and therefore at least one person will have a cold & sore throat, or worse.....well, you get the picture.

However, this year, we made each other so ill, it ended up being done at Easter! :rotfl:

I take it you mean that the elm was cut into planks today, not actually cut down in the forest!

I asked the question - the elm tree was cut down two years ago!

    I know nothing.... :rotfl:

There would be a lot of shrinkage and warping if fresh-cut wood was used for furniture and it began to dry out.

Latest addition to the 'set'. Appeared whilst I was away. The knot hole is perfect to lay a bottle of wine in.

I am sorry to tell you, but the bench and table look rubbish there. :)

They obviously need to be liberated.

Out of the kindness of my heart I am willing to give them a home. *
