I now want to see a picture of the gin and tonic. There are so many different ones now available. Haven't got a bottle myself but there's a local Hampshire gin made with watercress which had a lovely peppery flavour when I tasted it.

Thanks! But drat, I feel like having one now. Best not, a maintenance football training session tonight (the real grind starts August!).

    Enjoy!

I've just this second had a message; it's only signing on and a meeting tonight. When I get home, when I get home. :-)

Latest addition - made from an elm tree cut down today.

The view from the back of the seat is facing south. Had to christen it with me sitting with a glass of wine with the maker who had a wee dram in his hand.

More furniture to come, it's a great start though.

  • Can I make two (or three) suggestions?

The Sloe gin with bitter lemon, the others with elderflower tonic.

Hi Gers. That is such a simple, elegant and effective seat. :T

I take it you mean that the elm was cut into planks today, not actually cut down in the forest!

Here, we can't grow our elms higher than about 15' or they get the beetle and die. We have a laid elm hedge about 150' long, which is surviving. It harbours far too much whitefly for my liking, but it's rare, so we put up with it.

So, a seat.....in the garden....sitting on a seat in the garden and relaxing? Hmmm...Still struggling with these concepts a little, but I can see the general idea. :)

It's from a tree in the local forest, not sure if it was actually cut down today. The bench was made today by the two men who cut and planked the wood.

As I keep saying, I'm not a gardener and don't want to become one! Sitting on a bench, gin / wine / dram in hand all I want from a garden. I'm so proud of the work that's been done in the last couple of months, looking back at the first photos makes the task look really difficult.

There's more furniture to come - no sofas!

Sloe gin is definitely better home made. Round here (in Hampshire) the competition for sloes is fierce! But sloe gin is very good for the singing voice, although when I sing when I'm gardening I haven't been drinking, I assure you all.

But that bench looks great, although Hampshire prices would probably make it prohibitive for me.
