Very interesting as that was the point, so its ok for people to bait me but I can't bait others.
So you had to post just to say that, seems like baiting to me.
So its ok for people to say things in the thread like I was whinging and moaning so I write something to see if people accused me of it.
So then either way I can't win, shows double standards you can have.
You are making massive assumptions and presumptions about me.
I didn't "have to" but I chose to make an observation and ask a question which I note you have avoided answering.
Hypocrisy is not an attractive trait.
If you believe people are baiting you, report them to MSE.Originally Posted by shortcrust

I was talking in general, shame you fail to realise that.
And I admit to be a hypocrite there since I was testing to see if people were hypocrites themselves.
What question have I avoided? Since I thought I implied I don't like being baited (that was the point of baiting back)
Again you fail to realise that.
It was a TEST.
But I realised the word you could imply you personally so I changed it, but you seem to be quick on quoting before I get a chance to reword!0 -

No, you quoted me and then failed to make it clear that you were responding not to me individually but in general
And I admit to be a hypocrite there since I was testing to see if people were hypocrites themselves.
I admire your candor, it does you credit

The question was whether you enjoy being baited - I'm not a mind reader, I can only go on your response which did not answer my question
Again you fail to realise that.
As I said, I'm not a mind reader
It was a TEST.
Which you clarified AFTERWARDS
But I realised the word you could imply you personally so I changed it, but you seem to be quick on quoting before I get a chance to reword!
I guess I was just lucky but I am happy to read your correction
Hope it develops into a job opportunity for you.Originally Posted by shortcrust

come on Dekaspace, dont forget 2 'wrongs' dont make a right & the board guides ask you to ignore any behaviour you feel is 'troll-like'.
I hope you had a good trial anyway, did you find it a relief that your outfit was ok in the end? I know that was a concern for you.0 -

Well the trousers I got a few months ago didn't look as bad as I thought but despite getting 3 sizes too big they barely fit.
The shirt I had fit but just and no more.
Am looking at getting a proper one anyway as wanted a formal shirt but haven't got round to it yet, I have a good fancy dress costume that uses a blue shirt (thats the one I used for this) but its a tiny bit too small.0 -
I too suffer the same feeling of anxiety, underestimating ones worth, feel that they have to prove themselves but at the same time boosting your ego because you feel like you're bending the rules to fit your own desires. I wish I could say my self-destructive ways are in the past but they still live with me today; anxiety, depression and the temptation to commit acts of violence / vandalism (usually from frustration with job coaches/advisers).
From posts on this thread, I can at least say that i've tried to work in various sectors: IT, office/admin, retail, warehousing, all of which have been work trials ranging between 2 weeks to 6 months. I have smart suit clothes so presentation is not an issue. I occasionally get remarks from strangers in the job agency who ask about my background, saying "you shouldn't be long-term unemployed because you have all of these skills to offer the employer regardless of having volunteered for 3 years" which gave the impression that volunteers aren't viewed as proper workers. And I feel like i'm doomed to be working for free for life.
In my case, willingness to learn or ability to do the job isn't a problem, I can worry about anxiety attacks on the job when I get the job, it's getting there thats the hard part.0 -

Over the years I have worked with hundreds of different people and the vast majority came into work on their birthday, even though it was very easy to have a day's annual leave. Usual celebration was cakes all round and/or lunchtime drinks in the pub.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Well it was a test response but at same time what I was hinting at was with my mental health problems it was one of the very few times a year I let my hair down, so it wouldn't be good at this point to take that away.
I over the years worked on my birthday too before I had the health issues.
And bearing in mind even at the best of times years ago I had no real friends due to social problems so it was a day when people like family and few friends went out of their way to make me feel special about myself.
But I can tolerate a trial on my birthday, its just a shame though as would of been better planned for even the day later.0 -

It shouldn't be labelled as it's only the depressed or anxious that feel like this.
What genuinely happens when you turn up to start a new job and are dealt a c?@p atmosphere. I've had many and wasn't kidding that sometimes the best jobs are those you never start at. A lot of places breed this sort of awful atmosphere which isn't conjuiceive. What happens when you must start that new job back to back with the old, it isn't the new employer's problem in the extreme you've only had 5 days leave in all of 6 months with the old and even that was begrudged, so not having a birthday off hasn't and wouldn't phase me. I'd just be happy knowing I'd while touching wood never have to wait a stupid full on 6 months again and could book off any other spunking day as near as possible.
It isn't the mentally ill that only suffer. If you are around the right people the fear should surely lessen.0 -
I think it took a lot of courage to go to the trial.
You were anxious, knew no one, had no time to get used to the idea, and felt under prepared. I doubt anyone would think that was an ideal situation, and few people would feel no nerves or discomfort, even those who are well.
The fact that you did it should be considered an achievement and you should gain confidence from knowing you can cope in tough situations, and are stronger than you think.
Put your hands up.0
