I want to sell a FM aerial on eBay and was checking on shipping costs. The aerial is 63 inches long by 6" x 6" and weighs 1.4 kg.
The new price of the aerial would be around £25, so cheaper on eBay.

I am getting parcel delivery quotations of around £15 which makes it nonviable as the shipping costs would outweigh the price of the item.

The problem is the length, the cheaper options seem to have a cut-off point of around a metre or so.

I Would appreciate any advice if someone knows of a service I could contact who would perhaps do a cheaper deal.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

One of eBay shops is used for selling Antennae & the one we supply for amateur radio is 2.5m long & we have to use TNT via Interparcel Titan Service which is £9.99 + VAT (5% off for Members), Interlink will also take the longer lengths but are dearer.

....... If I could choose a collection within a 2 hour time frame including evenings then I might be tempted , likewise if I could arrange a delivery easily via an online system and have my items delivered at a time convenient to me I would be very interested.

I started to use payperdrop a month ago. At the 1st collection I asked the driver if this was his normal time for collecting round here. He said it was and he's been right so far. I can time the collection to an hour, even though it isn't always the same driver.

I don't suppose anyone has found a reasonably priced courier to the Isle of Man?

I always get the same driver when I use PPD and he always arrives between 10am-11.30am which means I don't have to stay in all day. I have found that DHL are reliable in my area where as Parcelforce are appalling!

If you call your local DHL or Parcel Force office on the day of delivery they are able to give quite an accurate estimate of what time your parcel will be collected / delivered.

I used to wait in all day but lifes too short, you won't regret making that call :0)

Managed to order Wii from Dixons 2 days ago and had been following its progress on the tracking thing on DHL website, it shows full history, it had made it to my local depot and then the next entry "was out for delivery" that was this morning first thing. Ive just checked it and theres a new entry at 5:30 tonight saying "Refused - Goods not ordered" !

Does anyone on here have any idea what that actually means? Its due for delivery at my parents so I do not know if it means that there was no one there to take delivery but have spoken to them and there was no card through door so now not sure!
