This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

I was awake again at 5.00am and unable to get back to sleep, so I have given up and got up. I thought I would spend a bit of time on the internet and read for a bit.

Sadly the street festival that I went to yesterday was rather a wash out. It started to rain about 1.00pm and carried on for most of the day from then. It’s such a shame for the organisers who put so much effort into this type of event.

I am going to pop up to the town this morning. I ordered some mugs from Argos and have had an email to say that they are in, so I will collect them and have a quick look at the shoe sales. I desperately need some new shoes.

I made a beef goulash yesterday and did an extra two portions. I think I will have it again today and freeze one portion, having some new potatoes with it instead of rice. That will make for a nice easy meal that I haven’t got to cook.

Time to go and get some more tea and find something for breakfast and to settle down with my book for a while. It does seem very peaceful at this time of the morning, which is one advantage of waking up early :)

I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.

Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to all those in need.
Raining hard at the moment and looks set to stay that way.
I'm dropping CHS at work for 7, then I have a few jobs to do and then on to DD1's for lunch.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,

Early start for me this morning due to a hound. Can't complain though as I'd got some laundry to wash and dry before we head off to the van. Mind, I haven't started packing yet but it won't take long as we travel light.

Had a message from a friend of Prodigal. He's got a bit of part time work at a car wash. So pleased to hear that. I'll keep away though. It's best for now.

Onwards and forwards

Have a great day all

Good Morning all a bit of a damp start here in north Kent at the moment, quite overcast as well hope it clears up as my gardener is due this morning as I had to cancel him last thursday because of my trip to the airport to pick up DGS Ben. Mid morning I am round to Dds to keep an eye on the four boys who are at home for the holidays, make them some lunch and if the weather is still bad we will probably watch some TV this afternoon. I watched a film last night that I had recorded ages ago called The Boat That Rocked and it was so funny seeing all the fashions of the mid 1960s and hearing all the old records and music from that era :) Bit of a fluffy picture but not bad on the whole. I have a stack of movies on my TiVo box that I am determined to watch at least one a day to make room on there.

HM celery soup and crackers for lunch today and left over stuff from last nights dinner at Dds for tonights dinner (roast beef, yorkshires, roast spuds and veg so only gravy to make and zap it all in the m'wave ,dinner sorted then:)

Hope everyone has a good day almost the end of July already ,time is whizzing by now toward our holidays :):):)

Take care all

Its a bit damp and overcast here today, typical as its the first day of the school holidays we have events on everyday at work which mean the next six weeks will be manically busy :( and as usual we wont have enough staff ! hey ho only four weeks till my holiday !

Man coming tonight to look at my driveway it desperately needs re doing as the old tarmac is crumbling away and there is a big hole in one part of it.

Dinner tonight is something involving chicken I have crème fraiche to use up too.

TD had to be used yesterday as it did not stop raining all day, Evie and OH went up the beach and got soaked through !

Right better get on have good days all xx

Morning :hello:

Congratulations Gers on your new job :T

Happy holidays Hester :D

Leaving dog duty to mr tru was a mistake. He's only been walked once in three days and was out of control in the house because he didn't understand what he was being asked to do. By the end of day two, he was looking to me for confirmation of what to do because he had no idea of what he'd just been told. That went down like a lead balloon, as did him choosing to curl up on the sofa with me (he always sits with mr tru when he's here). Of course he couldn't actually complain about it because he knew he'd caused it himself, but his thunder face gave it away every time, lol. I took over again at teatime yesterday, after a couple of hours there was peace in the house again.

I'll damp dust and run the hoover around downstairs as soon as I'm dressed, then go for a walk with the furry one. Miss tru has had to swap her work hours around this week, so she's home this afternoon instead of wednesday. I have work this morning and because I'm sticking to my routine rigidly, there will be no time to pretend I'm a fabulous chef while stirring homemade sauce and shaking the frying pan to flip the onions about, lol. Lunch will be straight from the freezer – fish, chips and peas. Not sure what I'm doing later, it depends on the weather.

silver-oldie That's terrible! I wouldn't bother with them if they ask again x

Morning All

A lovely sunny morning here and not a breath of wind. Bedding in the WM, should be dry very quickly - I shall put it straight back on the bed.

I may look for new friends silver-oldie!
Have a good break Judi.
Poor Scampi, he must have been very confused tru.

Got the grass cut yesterday and tidied up the garden. Does anyone else have to weed the pots? I think it's the little birds leaving presents.

I went for a swim and ended up having a gym induction too, not sure how that happened but I may go from time to time, my back needs a little strengthening and I think the muscles in my tummy upped and left ages ago! By the time I had cycled there, played on the machines in the gym for a while, had a swim and cycled home I was exhausted!

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX
• Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. It's dull here but forecast to brighten up. That's good as it's middle DGD's sports day. We usually go to watch and cheer her on but will have to see if Mr TA feels up to it when he gets up.

We thought we had escaped the rain yesterday but it started early evening and went on and on. None of the promised thunder though.

No idea what we are eating today. I shall have a rummage in the freezer shortly and see what tempts me and, more important, can be easily eaten one handed! SILVER-OLDIE what a cheek that was, inviting you out for lunch then leaving you with the bill!

Have a good day folks if you can and (HUGS) to all in need/want of them. Have a good break JUDI and let's hope this is a new start for Prodigal. Take care all xx

Good morning everyone, thank you Holly for the new thread.

Poor night's sleep last night so might end up with a Nana nap later, but need to vac through and tidy as well as trying to Kondo some stuff for the CS and clear some more overgrown stuff from the garden. Green bin is 3/4 full and not due for collection for another week, may try and bag up dry herbaceous stuff and then scrounge some space in one of the neighbours' bins, they are a lovely bunch here, just 14 houses (well variations on bungalows really). OH tells me we are due for rain on Wednesday so need to crack on.

Supper needs to be the belly pork, got tempted by a takeaway yesterday. Need to check through the fridge so no bits and pieces get overlooked and do a rough meal plan.

Tru - so pleased for Scampi that order has been resumed. Judi - have a good break at the van, pleased you have some good news about prodigal, hope daughter will see sense soon though. Gers - congratulations on new job. Hugs and spoons to anyone needing some.
