im a save for another go kinda guy lol.

and jeans, im even more so! but apparently those in the know, says jeans are meant to be just kept clean and not over washed every use. if they dont have any visible marks on them i just give them a quick spritz on the visible (read, bit people may look at) parts!

I know it's not good for clothes, or the environment, but I wash pretty much everything after one wear. I know that they're not dirty but I don't see them as being clean either and I like everything to be clean.

I also know that it's generally accepted that bras should be washed every other wear but I can't bear the thought of wearing something that's that close to my skin more than once. There's also the fact that I only ever wear sets so would always end up having to buy 2 pairs of pants for every bra.

My washing machine has a few short cycles which are extremely useful:-

Daily wash 7kg - 38 mins (I use this the most)
    Express wash 2kg - 14 mins
    Freshen-up - 17 mins

So it's easy to freshen up clothes that aren't dirty whilst not using much water or energy. The preset temp is 30C but can be changed.

Some studies have shown that denim jeans are apparently almost 'self-cleaning' (unless you drop stuff all over them) and can last for weeks without needing more than a thorough airing after every wear. They do not support the bacteria that make things smell. :)

Wool items like jumpers and cardigans are not usually worn next to the skin (makes me itch to think of it) and also only need a thorough airing, preferably outdoors, before being put away again.
The more they are washed unnecessarily, the more damage is done to them and shortens their life-span.

I also will wear items several times before washing them depending on their use and exposure to different situations. They get hung up to air either outdoors or within range of an open window. I have comfortable slouchy Home clothes and some smarter Leave-The-House clothes :D . My worn but not dirty items do not get put back with clean items after airing (apart from jeans & wool).
I use different styles of bras over the course of about a week or so, as which one I wear depends on the outfit, weather and activity. Of course knickers are changed daily :o and socks can often go 2 days after airing overnight.
I wear mainly flip-flops or go barefooted in Summer anyway ;)

What make of washing machine do you have?

I have clean undies every day (couldn't bear not to). Things like skirts and trousers I try to make last two wears (not consecutive) and have to air them between wears. Tops would definitely be put in the wash.

My god, maybe its just me, but i rarely wear something once(other than knickers) then put them it the wash. If i havent broken sweat or got particularly dirty(like at the stables) then its at least 2 wears, if not more. Why would you need to? Other that what you've been taught from detergent commercials? If you think it smells, then it probably does need washing, other than that, use what you were given(your nose). I cant be the only person that thinks like this????
  • I wash everything after one wearing, whether a 10 minute trip to the shop or a days wearing.

I can't bear to wear my work uniform all day (top), so change it at lunchtime - and i'm male.

I'm like that about lots of things though - my personal hygiene cupboards are full to the brim. I go into panic mode straight after either of my two daily baths thinking i'm sweating and/or smelling.

Except you cant smell your own smell as much as others can, and a cold t shirt armpit smells nothing like a warm one, so what might seem clean when you take it from the back of a chair could be reeking an hour later.

I will wash things when they are dirty; that means a couple of days for a tee-shirt, a week for jeans.

Undies every day, bras according to top garment.

I'm awkward cold so sweating is a rare thing for me, in fact, I experienced my first ever armpit sweat a week last Friday at 93 degrees in New Jersey. It was more because we'd lost DS' front door key - for the second time and were locked out! Deservedly?
