....like a shirt, top, sweater. And then discarded for a change of clothes for some reason.

Do you put them in the laundry bin or hold them back for another wearing before they go to the wash? And do they go back in the drawer, wardrobe, or are they kept out to remind you they're due for another wearing?

I'm not particularly OCD about laundry, especially in winter when it's a difficult to get clothes dried and wonder what other people do.

Things are washed when they whiff or when they've something dropped on them :)

It does all depend what the item is and what I've been doing while wearing it, but, in the main, doing non-sweaty, clean, activities things will go back on the hanger several times.

Some things can then be randomly grabbed from the hanger and washed when I know I've worn it a few times but need to "make a whole load up".

I have two sets of clothes, in the main: "to wear round the house/comfy/loose" and "to wear outside of the house". Stuff only worn round the house will tend to get worn more times than stuff I've worn to "go out" in before being washed as they're items that "only I see".

Hang them up to wear again or sling over the back of a chair but leave them out. I don't like putting clothes I've worn back in the wardrobe or drawers with the clean stuff. It's not logical, just how I feel.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

if they don't smell, & I haven't spilled anything on them, they're hung back up and then back in the wardrobe, or on the outside if I know I'll wear them again soon.

If I wear something to go out in, it's usually for a maximum of 4 or 5 hours so I plan to wear it once more, unless I have a load of washing of the right colours ready in which case it'll be washed.
Any longer than that & it goes straight in the laundry basket.
I'd never hang something that had been worn back in the wardrobe or put it in a drawer with clean clothes.

Hang it on the back of the spare room door (or outside in summer) to air out before putting back in the wardrobe. Don't tend to put things back in drawers as they don't get the air round them as they would in a wardrobe.

I have a section of the wardrobe which is kept just for clothes which have been worn. I usually air them for a few hours before putting them back inside though. I don't particularly like putting worn clothes back in the wardrobe but after all, you wear a coat and put that back in the wardrobe without dry cleaning.

Air them then put back for another wear. DS puts jeans down to laundry basket after an evening wear. I just hang them on the line. He then thinks they have been washed.

I think my mum used to do this in days gone by when I was a kid and she didn,t have a washing machine? I never caught on and I guess the fresh air blows any cigarette smoke or other polluting smells off the fabric.
