Of course it's worth contacting the hotel. The hotel don't know who the car belongs to. It's your booking and your car as far as the hotel are concerned.
  • Coupon-mad........can I just clarify.....I appealed correctly, it got rejected. From this point I just ignore any letters / threats / debt collectors. Am I (well the Mrs) at risk of going to court and it costing a lot more? Sorry for the questions but I read the whole thread and the POPLA route seems clear but IPC not so much

There is no risk of anything if you get the hotel to cancel it.

There is a risk of it going to court but the parking company would be mad to try.

I would state that a "booking" gave you authority to park , the "online" was probably a tablet at reception , door locked , no access to "online" payment , as you had no link address , = frustration of contract

perhaps if wrong you can elaborate on "online payment" , to who , at what WWW address , , is or was it stated in any prior communication by the hotel when booking?

Is that before or after contacting the hotel?

The hotel could kill this dead for you. Without that cancellation, you're in limbo for 6 years, as that's how long the parking company has to issue court proceedings.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

We have asserted that you MUST complain to the Hotel, not 'keep trying'. I am fed up with the people (not you!) that we've advised to complain, who then come back 3 months later saying they didn't bother and hoped it had gone away, and now screeeeech that they have got a court claim. Doh! COMPLAIN.

Get off the phone, you are unlikely to get the Manager that way.

The complaint needs to be in writing or by email, address it to the Manager (by name, look it up on the website), then escalate the complaint to the National Head Office if they belong to a chain.

Thanks for the advice. This is a priority now. I will keep the forum posted. Is there a standard letter for this or just relay my personal situation to them?
