I have received one of these yesterday - plays DVD'd brilliantly! I have had no luck playing MP3 CD's or Picture CD's - even though it states on the box that it should play these formats. Has anyone else been successful in playing these formats?0

I have had no trouble with either. It takes longer to load up an MP3 disc as it does a DVD. One thing that must state is that the MP3 can only be on a CD disc. It will not read MP3 on DVD discs and that is the same with JPG.
It is not very clear but just a thought. Other than that it may be faulty disc or a problem with the player (can't see that but is possible).
Hope this is of some help to you.I am not always right,

As regards power for unit I think that all you will need is a regulated power lead from cig socket on car with correct fit pin connector to player with a loading of 1500ma. The same as outputted from Mains power pack. Should be able to get one like that from such as Maplin or good car accessory shop.
The other alternative would be a power inverter, plug in to cig socket and gives 240 volt out to 3 pin socket to plug in as a mains unit. They work but a drastic measure though could be used to power lots of other things, the main one a nice large fridge full of bottles in the boot!!!!!!! They are not too expensive these days. Maplin have one at £29.99 which is rated at 150 watts for laptops etc so should be fine with this and has inbuilt protection for your car battery and accessory.I am not always right,

Many Thanks! I have tried loading MP3 from CD as stated - it recognises it as being a CD - but then just plays high-pitched hiss (does same for Jpeg CD). The icons on the side of my player only show "DVD" & "CDAudio" - and no others - is this the same for everybody else - or could I have been fobbed off with an older model?0

Does your MP3 disc play in normal MP3 player OK?
Does the Scott play normal CD's?
If the answer is yes to both then looks like a fault with Scott or a fault with the type of disc recorder you are using. Good luck in sorting thast one out.
You are not fobbed off with older model as mine only has those 2 icons on the Cd tray door as well as Dolby Digital logo on the other side of the tray.
It would be an idea to get in touch with seller ASAP to get a replacement sent out before they run out of stock either way.
Good luck and let us all know the result.I am not always right,

redfox wrote:if you find a source for that at a decent price, please do let me know

Price aside...... As I see it, the 1500MA is the main issue here, however, the review does say to use 1000MA
If I get a chance I am going to get along to Maplin and try this one. Naturally, anyone smarter than I on these matters is welcome to comment.

Flange - no you're not the only one!!
Mine plays DVDs ok (although slows up if zoomed), plays audio CDs ok,
but I get the hiss noise with MP3s - I thought I might investigate with a
disc with a lot less on it. Also, JPEGs load up very slowly - will try smaller ones.
Otherwise quite impressed - jest need car-kit now.
cheers
