Happy holidays silva!
The cs bag is still in the car, I now have another bag to go with it as I've put away the summer stuff.0 -
You off somewhere nice Silvasaver? We are at the boat taking sails off ready for it to come out of the water next week. Blooming freezing first thing in the morning but the forecast is for 23 degrees tomorrow. I hate winterising when it's cold and wet.
Equinox today but because we are an hour ahead and further south it's already noticeable how late it is before it gets light in the morning. So it will be bye bye boaty for another six months. When we first got the boat and we were in the Solent, DH insisted on spending most of the year going down. Now we are older he isn't quite so keen on being cold and wet (insert thankful smiley)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Can I really do that? it would be such a massive weight off my shoulders. Could I do that with eg a very heavy teak root bench right up on the top tier, it looks weathered and is on a corner and looks good, Omg I hope so because removing these big plants would be a huge huge nightmare and is already entering my thoughts at night time0 -
MaryB - off to Greece for 2 weeks - activity holiday with sailing, kayaking, SUP etc - or not!! Looking forward to some sunshine before the winter sets in.
I sail in the Solent (I do use that term very loosely)My boat will be lifted out the week after I get back - I'm going to make new dodgers (well - that's the plan) There won't be any kondoing on board as there's nothing kept on thats not absolutely necessary - I just dont have the room.
I'm taking my tablet with me as I've loaded some (free) books on so hopefully if there's a decent wifi I'll be able to keep up with you all
Kittie - just say its part of the inventory. When we moved into our current house the previous owners were emigrating to New Zealand. They took what they needed, sold what they didn't and left everything else behind - didn't mind some of the stuff but half used make up and dubious cooking items were not welcome!
I'm sure a new owner would love your nice things and be very grateful.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Yup kittie, up here pots woukd be looked on as not included in the sale as they are moveable but plants in the ground would be looked on as part of the sale. If you want to take any, you are supposed to mention it in the details of sale and similarly anything you are leaving would be mentioned as a selling point. I'm sure the future owner would welcome the planted up pots (whether the good ones or plastic ones for those you change) as it helps the garden look nice. They would also love the bench I'm sure.
When my mum and dad bought the house I grew up in there had been a family of wild boys and a large dog and, I think, only a father. While the chewed kitchen door and scratches all down the back of the front door weren't as welcome, they also left junk in the cellar but in amongst it was a couple of sledges we used for years and some other toys/bikes that again we played with happily and some tools the family used over the 48 years we were in the house.

Kittie: your garden sounds lovely, so selling "as is" would definitely be a plus point.
When I went to view houses ( good few years ago) I saw a variety gardens, but the owners usually stipulated that they would be taking a lot away with them. It was a pity with the plants and pergolas, but a bit of a relief with the gnome horde.0 -
Oh thank you a million times, I feel so relieved now0

Recycling was collected this morning and I've rooted out another large carrier bag's worth of cardboard to go in the next batch!
Craft crate looking sooooo neat and all contents readily identifiable and accessible :j
Glancing round the multipurpose room where crafting is done does reveal that I made a bit of a mess while sorting the crate :rotfl:
Need to do the joy test on a few things, release some paper bags that were kept for 'Andy :rotfl:,
and find a better temp location for present stash.
Last year I made a list of giftees and gifts and noted exactly where i had stashed them (the gifts not the giftees). It worked well and meant I could put them in a fairly inaccessible drawer until the time came. I didn't need to peer into the drawer to check on stocks because my list was kept bang up to date. It was a god send. This will probably work well again. I'll check it out tomorrow, as soon as DH goes out!I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Some lovely ideas to get rid of emotional items.
Pleased to get rid of lots of clothes and shoes - clothes not joybringing or too big (due to very gentle weight loss), shoes - feet changed due to arthritis so quite a few pairs of nice shoes released. Luckily charity bag arrived yesterday for filling ready for Monday.
Also so pleased to pass on sister's passed on magazines to hairdresser, so not 'wasted'.
Another pass through my COD, including knicker drawer, items re-arranged, a few items to be passed on. So much better arranged, and hopefully will STAY organised. Much joy.
Now having another go through my craft stash. The button and bead boxes done, 'free' mag kits done. Next section will be fabric - BIG box - determined to slim it down and not keep it all for Justin! Again, will be passed on, probably most to specialist cs not too far away.
Applying the KM principles to the garden/autumn tidying as well.
Thanks to you all for keeping me on the KM path, the ideas are brilliant.
Take care. H.0 -
Hebwood, sounds like you doing brilliantly. It is fun, isn't it?!
I, too, am slowly losing weight. Not trying to go any quicker cos I think I'd struggle to stick to eating even less, and these good habits now will only need minor tweeking in future to maintain a healthy weight. Building good habits with that as well as with tidying
Several more jobs ticked off the 'to do' list, one being the flu jab that was done this morning.
The to do list has got a bit too long for next week because we have a funeral to attend, work to rearrange (we are both self emplyd), a client who needs an extra visit, another who needs to change the scheduled day, and then I have to pack for a long drive to visit my folks in Scotland. The packing, of course, will be straight forward, thanks to MK !I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0
