I'm getting rid of a ring binder folder, it's too big and we usually use the box files. It's in very good condition so it can go into the donation bags. I didn't take the stuff to the charity shop today as it's raining and I don't drive so I will wait until later in the week.
I used up the end of a moisturiser on my hands. It was in one of those annoying pump bottles so you can't tell how much is left.
I'm going to look around for what else can go...:D0 -
Hello all
I love reading this thread and keeping up with everyone`s efforts in clearing the clutter from their homes and lives.
The time has come for us to get serious about sorting ours. We have a 3 bed house, loft and garage (far too small for the car) just full of stuff. It`s really starting to drain us now because we are having to move things to clean.
I picked up the book when I was browsing in shops on Saturday and almost bought it. Then almost bought online yesterday too. Then had 2nd thoughts and decided against it. I have far too many books already cluttering the shelves did I really want to add another one?
So I read lots of things online and decided to take snippets of wisdom from there and this thread and just make a start.
I don`t have much spare time to do this so I decided that I can manage 30 mins per day before work (I work from home)
Today I made a start:
Receipts from handbag and stuffed in a cupboard were sorted have now gone.
Top shelf in cupboard which is home to shoes, coats and all sorts of stationary was cleared and sorted. I found the service log for boiler and the special key for filter hidden at the back (this was installed 3 years ago and I haven`t been able to find it for the 2 annual services since then).
Also sticky tape seems to be multiplying in there
I found at least 6 rolls and 2 rolls of parcel tape.
All of this now has a home.
So I hope that you don`t mind me joining in and gaining the benefit of everyone`s wisdom0 -
I have finished the major KM, finished before christmas and am now into making sure that nothing comes in without something going out. I bought several air cleaning plant last week and have just disposed of 11 bottles and cans of assorted beers and ciders. I don`t drink much and ds and dds don`t drink much these days, anyway they were ood.
Also got rid of a couple of jumpers from my wardrobe, didn`t have to think about them, they just didn`t feel good any more and I have had them for a fair old time. Books too, my light winter reads, I am reading and then they are going. Wool stash is slowly being used and I am accumulating presents for people, socks and fair isle hats for birthdays in february
Food stash is slower but is reducing. I am prepared to do a sweep of any foods not in the freezer, will wait until june.
Keep heart any of you starting or struggling, those little nibbles make a very big difference over time0 -
Wednesday 2000: take a sharp knife or Stanley knife and cut the pump bottle in half so that the top comes off completely. Scoop out any remaining lotion into a spare jar. I keep dinky jam jars just for this purpose.
I do this with everything: pump bottles, squeezy tubes, toothpaste ( I have form on this one, if anyone remembers that post😉.) It is AMAZING how much lotion/toothpaste/shampoo is hiding at the bottom. Also v v frightening from a wastefulness point of view.
Halogen roasties:
1. Roast meat on the rack. Remove rack. Take meat out and allow to rest.
2. Immediately after removing meat and rack, scoop out most of fat in the halogen bowl and use for making gravy.
3. Leave a drizzle of hot fat in the bowl, and toss in hot par-boiled potatoes and parsnips.
4. Increase heat to 230, and roast for 30 - 40 mins. Removing the extender ring can speed up the process as the bulb will be closer to the veggies.
Meat perfectly rested, hot cooked roasties.
If I want roasted onions I put halved onions in at the beginning with the meat, then not bother with the low rack. I can sit the meat on the onions, if I make loads of onions😁😁😁😁😁. I still turn the meat over and give the onions a stir.0 -
Today, I'm roasting two turkey legs that will only need 45 minutes or so, so I'll throw in the par-boiled potatoes with them. No point especially resting small pieces of meat.
I will heat a bit of fat in the bowl and until super hot, then toss in the raw turkey legs and par-boiled potatoes together in one layer. They should all be ready at the same time.0 -
One turkey leg and roasties will fit together, not two. Doh!0

DH just volunteered a shirt for the CS:eek: so I had a look in his wardobe and'suggested' a couple of others and then he found another one to go :eek: Shan't push my luck on any more as he's already binned two pairs of righteous underpants this week lolSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

You can start another thread whenever you like and ask one of the BGs to lock the old one. Put a link to the new one at the end of the thread once it is set up and you've copied across the relevant bits from the first few posts.
Utility room units and white goods are all out... need to find a home for the old WM and TD (maybe put them on FB as good for dog bedding/as a spare?) and have someone coming to pick up the units. She thinks she might not be able to fit much in the car... the builders are going to help. They need the space...0
