KonMari 2017 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Kittie, good point about collages. My brother kindly did a photo collage from scanned photos for each of us a few years ago, so we have a full print with pictures of all family members including my grandparents, cousins whom we knew well as we were growing up, etc - it's a lovely reminder.
Slight change of subject, I've just come across this item about clutter and depression, which I think will probably strike a note with some of us on here.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

I once went on a day-trip to Berlin with my aunt and cousin, and aunty took many pictures, and had them printed in this style. She kept the large ones, and I was happy to just keep the small ones (passport photo size), which she just couldn't understand; she kept on pressing for having 'proper' pictures developed. Even at 14, I didn't see the need for 100 pictures from a daytrip. I still don't. I like to really use my eyes and brain when I visit an interesting place, and maybe take a picture to jog my memory; I rarely look at my albums, so see no need to make more; they only seem to be a 'dreaded chore' looming over my head and bugging me, stopping me from relaxing properly. I can do without that.
I've been on those trips and met those people - they have added to my growing (sorry, I'm struggling to find the right word here), but there is no need for a visual to proof that I have grown. I do not photograph all the clothes I have ever owned, every school book I have studied from, so why would I keep track of every place I have been to, and every person I have ever met?Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
A few things gone over the last few days. 2 pairs of righteous knickers in the bin. Two catalogues in the recycle bin. Discovered a small stack of birthday cards that I'll cannibalise for gift tags and recycle the remains.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Im doing the mins game too. Found an old voucher yesterday (one of the plastic card types)which the retailer honoured despite it being out of date :j.Thrilled to be able to get 'free' plants for a rather dire winter planter my kitchen looks onto.
Also using website below for added ideas and inspiration on habit forming etc (might not link on my phone sorry)

What is the "mins game" please?0 -
Busylizzie, it's a game from 'The Minimalists' (they have a blog and a book, I believe) where you select a month (preferably the current month
), and then throw away (or donate) 1 item on day 1, 2 items on day 2, until the end of the month.

Popped into a £1 shop for a looksee and found Delia's complete cookery book. Wish it had been £1 back when I wanted it in the 70s:D I couldn't afford it then. Have culled my cookery books and now just use google if I need.0

3 pairs of 'too big' knickers in the bin. Replaced by smaller pretty ones with plenty of soft lace and a colourful pattern
Double joy!
Pile of old gardening mags to CS (big result, getting DH to let them go).
Have some paperwork to file and my 'posh' handbag to put away* but overall the place is pretty tidy.
* when not in use it sits inside a larger bag, as suggested by our illustrious leader.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0
