Calm
The Fortunate household feels nice and calm at the moment. Not having Uncle F around has taken some pressure off and untied me from the additional domestic chores that involved. FDawg was off his food for a day or so but has now made a full recovery. Think he had a little tummy upset. And today we had a date day 😁 We went to see the new Bond film. Mr F's choice but, I have to say, I really enjoyed it. What an ending though! Don't worry - I won't be including any spoilers here 😉 It was £24 for the tickets (premium seats as Mr F's back complains otherwise) and £10 for coffee and cake when we arrived. I took some cheese and pickle bagels for lunch which we ate during the film. Costs to be met from the fun money.
Whilst at the cinema I thought "Why don't we do this more often?" and then I remembered, oh yes, we've had a pandemic. We went to the cinema across the border and it's still a legal requirement to wear masks whilst you're there. However, many in the audience were not wearing masks and not socially distancing either 😲 Fortunately we went to the 11.00 am showing and there weren't many people there.
When we got back we dug up the remaining row of potatoes. There are an awful lot. Although I thought that about the first row and we seemed to get through those quite quickly.
Mr F also put the final gate post in. He just needs to fit a latch and then he'll have finished replacing all four of the gates which were failing. We'd set a goal to get three replaced this year so he's knocked it out of the park 😁 Clever old thing.
I even managed to get some writing done today. Haven't been in the right frame of mind for writing for ages. I'm hoping to finish a story I'm working on by the next Writing Group meeting.
We had Creamy Beetroot Risotto for supper. So nice to have the kitchen back in order and to be able to do some proper cooking. The beetroot was the last of the produce hamper I won.
Young decorator is coming back tomorrow to start on the living room. That should feel less intrusive as I can shut the door on him and the mess and go and sit in the lovely clean kitchen 😁
Happy Sunday all

Glad to hear the kitchen has turned out well, despite the issues with the paint. I'm partial to a bit of yellow myself and we painted the largest wall in the hallway leading up the stairs in "mustard pot" a couple of years ago. Always makes me happy when I come home and see a sliver of it through the window. DH loves blue so most of our upstairs is various shades of blue (it's supposed to be calming I think, not sure it's working!)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20177

Colour makes such a difference to mood doesn't it @ruby_eskimo. We do have other colours in the house but yellow seems to be the predominant hue now. We have a mid-blue in our guest room which makes it lovely and calm. I'm wondering whether to go with a pink in our bedroom now though - just to have a little variety 😆

Eating Frogs
Today I will be going into the annex to continue cleaning 😇 I haven't been in since that first visit and know I am procrastinating about it. So, today, I will go in and clean the vacuum in there (and hope it's still working) and brandish it in the living room. I shall keep to my 'hour at a time' plan so I don't get too fed up.
I made contact with the builder (again) and he'd said he'd come round at the weekend. He didn't. So I've sent him another text asking him to come round this week.
So two frogs at least nibbled at.
Young Decorator has started on the living room and it looks as though we'll have the same issue with the paint. I'll reserve judgement until the second coat goes on.but it's very disappointing from a premium brand. I'm in contact with customer services and they are being very good. They want to collect any remaining paint to test it. The living room should be finished by the weekend - unless we get to coat number 4 on the walls 😲
We had our first indoor WI meeting in a long time last night. A local cafe hosted us and have agreed that we can have at least two more of our meetings there. They make the most delicious cakes, and as they are hosting us for free, I felt obliged to buy a slice 🙄 along with a hot chocolate and some buns to take home for tea and cake this morning. Costs will be met from the fun money.
Right... into the annex I go. If you don't hear from me soon, send out a search party 😆
