  • The time is flying by! We've had guests in the Annex almost every week during the past couple of months and DS1 visited this weekend. He has split with his girlfriend. which was the right thing for them, but I think he wants to spend some time with us now to talk through his future direction.

The drive drain repair has held up but we are still waiting to hear from the builder about the patio pointing so I'll give him a shout today.

The front gate is back :j But there are still problems with it  So I'll be drafting another email to Gate Man this evening.

We have been busy harvesting from the veg patch - lettuce, broad beans, black currants, red currants, marrows and potatoes. There has been a single courgette :rotfl: The courgette plants seem to be struggling this year but that may be because of where I planted them. We have fruit on the cherry tomato plants too but I don't know whether they will ever ripen. My freezer is full to bursting :D

There may be a new vacuum on the horizon. I know I collect vacuums the way some people collect shoes or handbags but I do spend an awful lot of my life vacuuming. FDawg is a shedder  Anyhoo, through a combination of reward card vouchers, gift cards, PADing and discounts I think I have just enough to buy a super duper, cordless, stick vacuum specifically for dealing with animal hair. I'll transfer the one I'm using at the moment to the Annex as it's ideal for in there. And I can then sell the two mains vacuums I have - one I brought as back up for my current stick vacuum but have rarely used :o and a very cheap and cheerful one I bought for the Annex which is useless for wooden floors. As you can see, vacuum cleaners are my MSE achilles heel but I'm really hoping this will be the end of my search for the holy grail of vacuums. Fingers crossed :rotfl:

I don't have much in my diary for this week so plan to catch up on chores in the house, turn over the Annex for our next guests and maybe get some writing or painting done. Oh!... and buy a vacuum cleaner :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope the week goes well for you.

The "courgettes" in mrS basiks line in our local branch yesterday definitely had aspirations of having 'Occupation: Marrow' stamped on their passports.............. :(:rotfl:

Thats a great veg haul - must be very satisfying :D. Suspect there might not even be one courgette here which is disappointing but am thinking it might be the amount of rain we've had.

Can't believe you are Still having problems with the gate

How is Fdawg, is he sleeping longer in the mornings?

I've heard they're very good Beanie. Think I'll do a bit more research before taking the plunge.

I think they are RT - same species but different varieties. Courgettes are thin skinned and marrows thick skinned though.

It seems courgettes everywhere are growing to enormous proportions except in my veg patch :rotfl:

One of my goals this year was to make more use of the veg patch and I certainly feel we've achieved that. Well... except for the courgettes :rotfl: You may be right about the rain Teapot.

Yes, it's very frustrating about the gate. I'm losing the will to live with it now.

FDawg seems to be getting a bit better. Sleeping later and whining less. Long may it continue!

He's still waking a little earlier than we'd like but not as early as he was - so there's progress at least.

Double boo to the gate :rotfl:
