Sounds like it's basically a prepaid card which, presumably, you can top up using a credit card or debit card. Can you top up with other credit cards or only a Barclaycard?

I guess it's an attempt to tie punters in to the Barclays ecosystem.
I used my barclaycard, but as far as I know you can link any MasterCard or visa to it.

    From https://www.bpay.co.uk/help-centre:
"do I need to have a Barclaycard or Barclays account to use bPay?
No. You don't need to have a Barclaycard or Barclays bank account. You can add money to a bPay account using any MasterCard or Visa debit or credit card, registered to a UK address."

Just for the hell of it, I just changed my barclaycard for my Tesco credit card. Easy peasy, one minute job.

I checked on one of my receipts this morning. The card number on the receipt is a barclaycard visa number, and the four digits at the end is neither the last four of my barclaycard nor the last four of the tesco cc I loaded it with. So, I guess, all of the transactions go through Barclays and they get to charge the retailer no matter which card you load it with.
