Thank you for the kind welcome x
Just back from seeing lovely Lu, was a bit later getting over the yard and after watching a couple of the riding school ponies plodding around the school looking half asleep in the heat I decided against exercising her. I packed my grooming box with a couple of brushes, fly spray and a clean fly mask & went to see her in the paddock. We stood in the shade and I gave her a good brush, sprayed her all over and changed her fly mask over, she frisked me from head to toe and found the cut up apple easily! Took her a bit longer to find the other one had hidden in the box but if apples were the drug of choice she would give those sniffer dogs a run for their money :rotfl:
Monna, better news on your DB, hoping it continues.
LW, wow, that is impressive, we know where to come in event of a zombie apocalypse0 -
Phew, it's hot, it's been hot all day, the washing dried in an hour and that includes the jeans! I long for a shower of rain, my poor fig tree isn't looking very well at all, his little leaves aren't full size yet and all his figlets have fallen off. The lawns look like a desert and the leaves are beginning to yellow on all the trees and fall, it looks like autumn out there or it would if the sun wasn't so relentless. This hot spell has become a bit of a chore and we are turning into troglodytes and keeping curtains pulled against the heat for most of the day. We're not able to walk Cookie until after 8 in the evening most days either and trying to cook anything in this temperature is trying too, I've taken to chucking things in the oven, putting the timer on and serving everything
with salads. The only hot stuff is soup reheated in the microwave.....I want some cooler weather please, I bet I'm not the only one either?0 -
Not too long now Lyn = it's meant to be hotter tomorrow, aaagh ,but then cooling down to much more the norm for this time of year. Thank goodness.0

We've got flying ants everywhere.
That usually means thunderstorms, or at least I hope so. We really need the rain.
Savings goal £30,000 1% = £300.

Ooooohhhhh I long for a thunderstorm but if you don't mind I'll pass on the flying ants!0

Not my finest hour, I was babysitting four year old twins when I lost one! The little monkey snuck out the front door and was prancing around naked in the front garden!!Chin up, Titus out.0

Yes please on the rain Lyn, the garden is so parched and brown. I have just been out to water the pots and the honeysuckles & other climbers are looking distinctly poorly
We haven’t had any decent rain since May and even given that EA is one of the driest region it seems to be dragging on now.
I noticed Lu picking up some dried nettles today and that usually means they are lacking some basic nutrient they can’t get from the grass.0 -
I'd like some rain - specially as I've been decanting bathwater out onto the garden via the watering can, which is NOT easy when you use two sticks to walk even indoors - but I'll pass on the thunder if you don't mind, as I have a sweet little Yorkie staying this weekend, and he doesn't care for loud noises.
Oh, I'll pass on the flying ants too, ta very much. *shudders*If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
Lainey I see the cattle and sheep wandering around doing the same. When I can hear them Moo I know it's because they want moving on to pastures new but the pastures new just don't come.
Squeeeee! I've just seen a hedgehog outside of my plot. Can I feed it? DD and I want to get it some shelter. I have a wooden chest that I keep my sewing machine in. I can sacrifice that. That's 2 frogs and a hedgehog near by. I am now worried because slug pellets are rife on the plots.
In other news. I have a pollinated pumpkin! Others are coming.Mr Pea Seedling said I couldn't grow pumpkins without a pollytunnel. Never tell fuddle she can't do something! I just have to nurse it through to Autumn now. I've sussed hand pollinating the cucumbers, I'm going to have to train them along the greenhouse roof!
