I have been watching the final withdrawal of those who helped save those young lads and their coach - everybody is out now, and my thoughts are with the loss of Saman Gunan and his family and friends, such a sad thing amongst such joy x
We didn't get a chance to see the air display, will catch up via the news laterNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Hello all - DS and I are on our way back from London having gone to see the fly past!!! We were stood by the fountain just outside the palace - did you see us? :rotfl:
Amazing thing to have witnessed - the '100' was amazing (though we were surrounded by RAF bods, one of whom said "well it could have been a bit tighter in its formation"...) and we saw the Royals on the balcony. It must have been good as DS is usually cynical about such things and he said he was glad he went. I don't think that was just about the pizza we had after... lovely atmosphere in the park with people sitting around having picnics.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
What a magical day. Most important was the safe rescue of the remaining boys and coach from the cave, only muted by the death of the diver. To see all those divers from so many different countries, coming together to help those in distress makes you realise that the majority of people in this world are good, kind, compassionate people. What a pity that a small minority gets all the headlines.
All the RAF celebrations were beyond wonderful. All the things I love. Brass bands, marching uniforms, organ music, choir boys, fly pasts, nostalgia, patriotism, flags, beautiful words, emotional music.................happy sigh.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Thank you Islandmaid.
Pearled spelt.that's solved a problem. I had no idea. I love broth, it's not the same without the barley bite.
Thanks for all your input today. My new meal plan is done, now to look at the snacks and then a shopping list/source better bulk buys.
The divers have said they don't know whether the boys are out because of miracles or because of science. I'm relieved they are out and safe. They could all teach me a thing or three in terms of self control and mind stability.0 -

Plenty of protein is good but there is no need to take it to ridiculous extremes.
I rather fancy a Dragon. Just try putting that in the freezer Mar. The fiery breath would melt all the other goodies you have stashed away.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Heck that all sounds like I'm negative and putting barriers up. I don't mean to be a moaning Mini. I will suss it all out... at the expense of the housework though, unfortunately.
You're not moaning, figuring it all out is very time consuming, occasionally frustrating and as you say, more expensive. I've also said the same things recently, and in our case, it's at the expense of getting more reno done!
I've found that a nice breakfast crustless quiche makes for a cheap and easy brekkie (bacon bit, mushrooms, spinach, eggs, cheese). I'm not sure if you'll be able to find similar there, but here a local butcher sells nitrate free decent bacon in little offcut bags cheaper than the supermarket sell their bad stuff. In a similar vein, a local fishmonger sells "salmon bellies", odd shaped salmon offcuts, at less than a third of the price per kilo of regular salmon. Same good foods, just odd shapes. Another thing I find to be cheaper is the giant chunk of meat, slow cooked and pulled. Whether pork, lamb or beef is cheap or on special, a 5kg piece cooked, pulled and bagged for the freezer makes a heap of different meals.
If we recruit a dragon... will Mardatha eat it?camelot1001 wrote: »Imagine if the dragon melted all the jelly babies, what would you do Mar?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
