Do you think we need to recruit a Dragon to our midst as the Hefferlump seems to have gone awol? Like LW I have a soft spot for Dragons ;)

I'll research bran silva, thank you. Floss Shipton Mill was what I had in mind, thank you. I think if I remember rightly, I can get money off Amazon if I commit to future deliveries.

Edit. Drat silva, it looks like bran is wheat. I avoid wheat 'cos of reflux issues. I tell you, I' m falling apart!

My budget is going up last week I spent £24.90 on fruit and vegetables at the market. It would have been twice that, if I could have got everything I bought, at Mr M. I have used some frozen as well. It's not so long ago I was spending only £25 per person on everything.

As for claiming for the engineer not coming I can't find the letter asking me to make the appointment. It was another company doing the meter change, It had there phone number on it.

I've had another morning of drills. It woke me up they were drilling into my bedroom wall. They are putting in emergency lighting and signs for fire exits. It wont change anything for me. If there is a fire and it is not in my kitchen I will be straight out of my back door.

Fuddle you can get oat bran very easily. I use it.

Ok, I am sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks. First the RAF fly past and then the fantastic news about the Thai cave rescue. Hope DH doesn't pop back home for lunch, he'll be very concerned at the state I'm in!

On a more mundate note - boiler / hot water now fixed thanks to our great local gas safe plumber. Quickly fitted replacement part, total cost £45. Phew. Housework almost finished, shall have lunch in the sun before tackling the rest :D

Agree with all comments about having increased my food budget and eating much more thoughtfully and definitely more healthily. Lucky we can afford it and prefer to spend on this than lots of fripperies. Never have takeaway now (except fish n chips on holiday :rotfl:), usually make from scratch but admit to buying crustless quiche every so often if work has been so physically demanding and we need a tasty, quick, easy meal.

Right, that covers quite a few topics, better get on with lunch!

Do you think oat bran would be OK in broth as a pearl barley substitute?

I don't think so fuddle as it is just fibre. You could experiment with a small quantity of soup.

Yes, I am thinking of the heroic diver who sadly died, and am waiting for good news about the remaining divers and medics.

Housework finished, sitting in the hot garden reading (have taken to the shade!). DH is home early so we are relaxing. Still feels like skiving, being home mid-week :D

me too MM, the flypast, the 100 finished me off

wheat bran is not at all good for people, even those who can tolerate normal wheat. Not bad if making eg cereals with whole wheat but added bran, no. Too rough on the digestive system and there are much better whole foods. It is added to some stuff because it costs buttons and is a cheap padder
