NM, fingers crossed for you and DS.
Silva, it would be no use, he always thinks something better will come along.
VJsmum I have a shewee, I also have 7 funnels, for some reason there were 18 on the boat when we bought it, most went to the charity shop but I don't use the others at all.
So we were forecast a break in the weather at 11 so we decided to set off, it pertiddled down for the entire 2 hour journey!
We reached Kintbury, went through the lock and disposed of our rubbish at the facilities. We moved on to the winding hole, turned around and found a nice 48 hour mooring, it's still raining but we have dried off a bit now. Hopefully CHS will agree to stay here for the entire 48 hours and my Anglican get some much needed rest.
I didn't know I had an Anglican, I was hoping to rest my ankle!
There is a butcher's, bakers and corner shop in the village so we can get some supplies if we need to and hopefully there will be tv reception.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Silva until I was pre- high school we lived in Oldham whose libraries used to loan out not just books but LPs and pictures too! My dad knew the boss and one Saturday took us into the storage room to show us 2 original L.S.Lowry paintings. Unfortunately the library staff wouldn't let us borrow those on our junior tickets!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hester, I am so glad that I came back here in time to hear that you had an Anglican on board. I have visions of a gentleman in cassock and dog collar running himself ragged in your boat and in desperate need of a rest.
nursemaggie, I feel so excited for you. After your last few years it's high time you had your own bin, enough room to breathe and quiet nights so that you can sleep.
I know the problem with pictures MMF. Having lived in large and very large houses I have accumulated many works of art. Some of them given me by 2 friends who were RAs. Those I will keep, but some I think I have outgrown and will let them go with no regrets.
I have sorted my cabinet of stationery supplies. I have enough rubber bands to last until the next millennium. Some years ago I read that birds mistook the bands that post men discarded for worms and were choking on them. Ever since, I have picked them up whenever I came across them. Do you think the post office would like them back?
I am immensely proud of my now well organised and tidy drawers, until I turn around and spot the small mountain of things I am not sure what to do with.
Things like the 69 assorted pens and markers. Of course I will have to try them all out. Heaven forfend that I should throw away a ballpoint that still has 10 minutes life left in it.
First a trip to the post box, the husband of a good friend is about to start a course of chemo, which demands a suitably rude card to amuse him.
Oh sugar! It has just started raining again.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Was horrible and wet early on but quickly leared up and has turned into a fairly nice mild day. Temp is reading 7C and the sky is brightening up. Not too bad after all. I think we've to get sleet tomorrow though.
I love venison but I can't stomach beef at all, hate the taste of it.
Going to haul the RV to the docs if he doesn't pick up soon, it's a fortnight now since we got this bug and he's not doing well. I'm ok apart from knackered but that's normal for me, he's never been this ill since he had flu (once) in the 80s.0 -
I do love reading your stories on here, but as a late arrival, could I possibly ask for a translation of CHS and RV please?
I'm guessing that Central Heating System and Recreational Vehicle are probably not the correct versions!

Hester you are kind but I have a machine and fabric so I shall get round to doing my own. I think I'll let the paint settle and produce something before I push them any further. I'll quit while I'm ahead... for now
Time isn't bring him to cat power is it mar? Keep us posted as whether he likes (or knows!) it or not, he's part of our lives.
Slinky RV is ratty virgo and CHS is Captain Hot Stuff.
Thanks for the sister words. I've let a lot go for the sake of our relationship but I don't forget or forgive. If she can't control what comes out of her mouth, at the very least, then I want non of it. She is free to live her life as full and as bought as she so wishes but I'm not going back to cutting remarks that can only be intended to cause me negative feelings. S*d that.
I'll leave you now thinking of mooning gnomes and stock cube botherers0 -
fuddle When she turned up her nose at your lovely and thoughtful present I'd have been inclined to say "Fine, I'm sure I can make use of them myself. The door's that way. Cheerio." Though actually I probably wouldn't have said much but would have spent ages after she'd gone thinking of all the things I could have said!
monnagran That's awful about the rubber bands! I always pick up the ones the postman drops on my path, but from now on I shall pick up any that I see lying around.
mardatha Poor old RV! Yes, please do drag him to the doctor! Wishing him well soonest. Are you feeling any better yourself?
EDIT Have just read your post again and realised you're still knackered. So sorry to hear that x
nursemaggie That sounds brilliant! I'll pray that you both get the flats and that you both have quiet neighbours.
I ventured into the back garden earlier to see how it's getting on. We have several clumps of primroses, daffs, the tulips are in bud, and the lawn is one big bed of violets! The grass desperately needs cutting, but it's far too wet. The ground is so soggy that it was quite bouncy to walk on.0 -
Ivy, the grass isn't even growing here! It's all very starved-looking. You know, yellow and sad.
Right the 'to do' list was hijacked by having to make a get well soon card, design some invitations for Dad's memorial service (bright colours to be worn, daft stories to be told, donations to the village Christmas lights fund), and searching high and low for some chocolates DH misplaced. No idea why that is my job....It's easier to do it than hear the mutterings of despair coming from the sofa
I have tasked DH with putting the chicken in and prepping the veg for tea
Wording for invites has reached first draft, to be sent to my Brother for the OK or 'helpful' suggestions. So, back to it. See you all later.
Oh, Mar, hope RV improves today or else make sure you go and bother the doctor tomorrow xI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
I'm praying for rain tomorrow.
CHS is determined to set out on our return journey tomorrow so no rest for my ankle unless it rains so hard he is forced to wait it out.
He has to be back at work next Tuesday so is in a panic in case we cannot get back to where the car is parked in time.
It took us 4 days to get here so why it should take us any longer to get back I do not know.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
MMF I've a !overly photograph that a dear friend enlarged and framed for me. It hangs on the landing and I can see it from my bed..Its my grandparents with my dad and my aunt and uncle - but with the death of my aunt I've realised everyone in it has gone and now it's somewhat depressing so I'm going to move it somewhere else - thanks for making me think about it and come to a decision.
Hester - surely CHS will know what moorings you've passed on the way up? (or you could remind him?) as you say it shouldn't take any longer to do the return journey. The weather report here for tomorrow is heavy rain and breezy so you may get your wish! Hope you get a good night's sleep too.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
