Softstuff DH makes sorbets using fruit from the allotment...the elderflower one is delish! He also makes the scrummiest mint choc chip (all in his Heston icecream machine that plays a tune when done!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I should jot down the orders
Thriftmonster, there's nothing quite as nice as being able to live as you want to is there? I wish you all the happiness.
Floss, they sound yummy too. I think raspberry is on my list (cos I can still eat it dieting!). Mine will not play a tune, which is fine, because no doubt I'll be humming merrily anyway :rotfl:
Incidentally, I'm now managing my 10,000 steps a day. Which is far less slug like than previously. And my sleep is improving too (so one of the 20 things I'm trying must be doing the trick :rotfl:)Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
softstuff strawberry too as they are very low in calories.
I have had my housing benefit and council tax benefit re done again because of the Attendance allowance. It made me realise I cannot actually look at sheltered housing until DS finds somewhere because if I move out he has no right to stay here. I think I will have to sort that out.
maybe I should call Macmillan again and get some housing advice.
Thriftmonster I had the problem of books too, When we moved to Bolton DS pointed out that everything I need to know from none fiction is available on line so I don't need factual books or recipe books. I had hundreds of recipe books. I hardly ever use them. You can get a frame that you slot onto the bottom shelf of a kitchen cupboard that you can slip a tablet in. The solution to not spilling anything on your tablet in the kitchen I think I may buy DD one.
You can get lots of fiction online digitally too so we really only need to keep anything that is really special or you have not read yet. I must admit I have an awful lot of books I have not read yet. I do know if I get them read my DDs DH will be getting them when they come home in June.
I don't think I would like an ice cream maker that plays a tune I find my rice cooker irritating enough. It does need to tell me it had finished though. It would have to make a noise to tell you.0 -
To celebrate the arrival of spring, i have given up my big coat that i am sick of the sight of, in favour of my leather jacket :T so whilst not quite 'casting a clout' I have exchanged it for a smaller clout.... :rotfl:
I also have salad for lunch, this does not happen in winter...
Softstuff - I adore good quality ice cream. Especially coffee and honey (different ice creams, not together). Whisky sounds delish.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

DH and mum had an icecream yesterday from a local shop that used to be Italian owned. The latest owners have kept up the icecream sales.
I am not eating sugar so I didn't buy one but I got to have a few licksThe Belgium chocolate was lovely!
My lovely friend bought me a little set of acrylic paints for when I am away from home. It has 2 brushes, 6 tubes of paint, a palette, some canvas and a pencil. All in a zipped wallet. So this morning I found a photo of a kitten and set to reproducing it. It turned out OK, much to my surprise! As I have said before i am not naturally gifted :rotfl: Time flew by but I have just stopped for a quick bite and to do some prep for dinner. We are making sure we do all the cooking and chores to give mum a rest.
My very own art critics have just suggested that I paint a Border terrier because my brother would like that. I suspect that will be a bit tricky but i have plenty of paper so I can practiceI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Casting clouts, ice-cream and sorbet?
hope is rising!
Elderflower sorbet Floss? Oh my! I know what research I'm doing in my downtime tonight.
I've been to the Heart nurse. My cholesterol is 5.4 and slightly elevated. I'm not happy. She went through with me what it could be. Aside from switching out red meat, which I've started. Did you know that cooking with olive oil turns it into a bad fat. Gutted. I thought I was using a good fat. what can I use instead now? She said rapeseed oil but I'm not happy at that suggestion as it's screaming no to me and can I 'eck fathom what it is I've read about it.
Coconut oil to cook with maybe?
Other than we talked about the idea that I probably had myocarditis a few weeks before pneumonia 18 months ago and it's been completely missed because of the very first A&E visit not even doing an x-ray or blood test. She suggested that my body has been fighting ongoing heart inflammation all this time so hasn't been able to fight of virus and bacteria, hence the repeated pneumonia.0 -
she is right about olive oil, rapeseed oil is good for high temperature cooking. I never would recommend coconut oil, it contains the same amount of staurated oil as beef dripping and has been cleverly marketed. I used organic cold pressed rapeseed today, just a bit, for stir fry garlic and kale. They are obsessed with cholesterol, it is made by the body and is essential for the healthy functioning of the body. It is a number, just that0

Not coconut oil Fuddle - there was something on the radio about it the other day... high in saturated fat (I googled and BHF says this) and there is some new research but I couldn't find it. I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention as I tend to use a variety of fats.
What are you using your oil to cook? We might be able to come up with alternatives. Also consider the quantities you're using.
Rapeseed oil is better than others for high-temperature cooking, but there are potential issues with GM contamination. Also oilseed rape is a horrid allergy-triggering and nasty-smelling crop0 -
Fuddle we use Rice Bran oil because it contains no cholesterol . Don't know if that would suit you.All that clutter used to be money0
