Google is years out of date it is called Fueniture4u. It has been there for a while and before that it was something else. I think all charity. There also used to be an Age UK community centre, my brother sent me the website just before we moved in.
The first time I went into town, I think in less than a week, I saw a bulldozer knock the last wall down. If It had not still had the sign on it I would not have known what it was. They still have a community center in Farnworth but I would have to set off to it just after 9 am to get there for afternoon things. You all know how hopeless it is getting about by Bus.
I have never seen an age UK shop in Victoria Square. I cross it every week. We have been to things that Google said were there before only to hear people say they knocked it down 10 years ago. It reminds me of one place where I was looking for somewhere and I asked a chap where it was.
He said, turn left where the co-op used to be. We had just moved there and I later learned the co-op had been gone at least 25 years.0 -
nm Perhaps you could cut the coat up and put it in a rubbish bin in the street somewhere?
ETA There is an Age UK Bolton website stating it is in Victoria Square next to Game and there is a photo of it on the website. Could it maybe have left there before you moved to Bolton? I remember looking for a shoe shop I had been to years ago, in the place where the company's website said it was, but everyone I asked said they didn't remember one being there.0 -
By coincidence mum and I were clearing out dad's clothes today. Lots to go to CS and a few things his friend might make use of. Among the items were about 50 ties! About 60 vests!! And 3 very bright Hawaiian-type shirts that I have no recollection of ever seeing him wear.
It is odd but the house feels peaceful and there was no sadness when we were clearing things to go. Although we all miss him I think it was definitely his time to go. An elderly friend lost her son 2 years ago and she speaks of him often but she always says that there is a day to be born and a day to die and it is not within our control.
Mum is coping well but partly I think she is just relieved to be getting some rest after a very tiring few years (during which she has been very poorly herself) and the extreme stress and exhaustion when dad was critically ill in hospital for 2 months.
We took mum out this afternoon because it was such a lovely sunny day. We drove into the hills, watched wildlife and saw beautiful scenery then we came home via a lovely cafe
Hope tomorrow is a bit warmer and sunny.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -

I suspect you'll have lots of fun with it Softstuff
Lovely sunny morning here so far :j Such a difference from yesterday morning when I just couldn't get warm.
Yesterday I bought a new swimsuit to take on holiday. It has a skirt, and I'd always sworn I'd never wear one with a skirt, but this one has a handkerchief hem which beautifully hides the widest part at the tops of my thighs. And it's patterned, the better to distract the eye from the legsI will have to swim wearing my glasses too as I'm so short-sighted, but hopefully this will be the last year i'll need to do that. I know you can get prescription goggles, but I don't swim often enough to make it worth it.

Don't fancy Whiskey ice cream softstuff. Try again with rum and raisin and we're talking.
Lovely sunny morning greeting me here. Today's to-do list is going to include a walk along the beach. The bitter wind has made that impossible for the last week or two but it seems to have dropped for now.
I do hope you sort out your rubbish problem nursemaggie. You've certainly had enough suggestions from this forum! Just think how wonderful it will be to have your own bin again.
I think I have got over the trauma of actually having an offer on the house and am beginning to think of the future, tentatively, but with the first stirrings of excitement.
The great sorting out and the towing of stuff to the charity shops is about to begin.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all,
I have been following along but I'm also in the process of moving house so again it's head down and dealing with the c**p.
Nsdh is moving out into a rented flat at Easter. Tbh he hasn't been around a lot which is fine but has left me with a lot of decluttering. Plus we only argue when he's here
The exciting news - I'm buying a house. A very dear friend has offered to lend me the money until we sell this one and even though he knows it may be a while, I can get settled in my own space. Plus there will be a place for ddog if I'm buying.
I had looked at a few and was driving with ds2 along a road near here and had said I wish one of those would come up. Lo and behold 2 days later it did and they accepted my offer.
So I am decluttering like mad as will be seriously downsizing. Most of it is ok but I am having to get rid of so many books:(
I do think of you all and hope that everything is going ok. Hugs to all those who are feeling under the weather or having problems.
Monna - your thoughts for the day are always appreciated:A“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

The swimsuit sounds lovely Ivyleaf.
Monna, I suggested rum and raisin to hubby and he was underwhelmed (the machine is mostly for him, to make non-dairy ice cream). We have coffee on the radar and also curiously enough "avocado, matcha and pistachio". Who knows what we'll end up eating :rotfl:
The house sounds so exciting Thriftmonster, you must be thrilled. :jSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I am excited Softstuff - the thought of my own OS space is what is getting me through atm. Nsdh was never really about OS - just more about not spending money - and the realisation that I can create my own life the way I want it is heady stuff!
Your ice cream machine sounds great - both coffee and pistachio are two of my favourite flavours.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Oooh - softstuff - Rum & Raisin please & I promise to share with Monna. Coffee & pistachio too and walnut?
Thriftmonster - how lovely of your friend to step in for you (says a lot about you too x) and how exciting for you to have your own space that is totally yours. I'm hoping that NM and her son also find forever homes and what with Monna moving too - all change this year chums!
Beautiful sunny day so I'll get me arris in gear - small amount of provisioning needed so I'll park the furthest away from the shops and get a walk in. Have checked my seed stash and I'm OK for runner beans and climbing french beans - I've also got some spinach beet that I've not tried before and I'd like to grow something else green thats not too fussy. I'll take a trip to £land and see if they have any seed potatoes and onion sets.
Bye the way Monna - I've finished making my new dodgers for the boat so when I finally get to the Pilot to see you she will be looking VERY smart! (I have rum on board but if that's a step too far we can sit on the pontoon and toast her there!)
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
