Thank you Marie,shanks77 and CRANKY xxx
Everyone's been so kind. Our darling Goan neighbour made us a curry yesterday - she prepared it, cutting up the meat into small pieces despite her arthritis, and her DD cooked it; and their youngest DD rang from Australia to offer her condolences! I'm so lucky. I really do feel very blessed.0 -
Thinking of you and sending ((HUGS)), MMF xx0

Sorry to hear about your brother Ivyleaf. As you say, no longer a worry and he's out of pain and 'resting' peacefully now. Thinking of you. Your SIL will be pleased to see you.
The nurses say my dad is very slightly improved, still on high levels of oxygen though but he is able to eat a little and was very briefly sat in the chair (allthough he wanted to be back in bad).
He was very depressed when we arrived to visit this morning because the doc had told him he had severe pneumonia. Until this morning he hadn't been aware of that and it made him really anxious. I spoke to him about it and explained what has happened since last Tues when he was taken in. He perked up a bit and then told the nurse he felt better now he had his visitors
The new shift has a nurse we've not seen before and she has really sussed him out and deals with him brilliantly! We left him to have some lunch (I suspect only a few bites) and I told him he has 3 tasks this afto - eat a bit of lunch, have something to drink and then have a sleep. I asked him if he can do those things and he said he'd try so long as we would come back later. We have been going in 3 times a day of course but we have to gauge how much rest he needs 'cos he tries to stay awake if we are there!
Right I think I'll put my feet up for 10 mins then it's the hospital run againI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
I'm glad he's a little better MMF. I feel sorry for him though, having to sit in a chair when he wanted to be in bed! But I know it's important to be as mobile as possible. xx0

MMF007, I also feel for your father having to sit up when he just wanted to be in bed. Do keep an eye on that, although he seems to to have a really caring team around him that must take a lot off your shoulders.
My own 97 yearold father had a fall in the hospital and broke his pelvis but was still made to sit on a hard chair by his bed. When I questioned this, the nurse was very surprised as she had no idea that his pelvis was broken. Another nurse tried to get him to walk along the corridor. His cosultant went spare. His words were, "They look at those bl**dy computers all day. What are they looking at?"
My brother and I kept telling everyone who would listen that all we wanted was for Dad to be kept comfortable and pain free. In the event he was neither. But all that is water under the bridge.
After all my procrastination I finally got stuck into my editing job yesterday and felt much better for it. Today I will crack on with it.
It's pretty chilly here but bright and the wind has dropped.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Morning fencers . ivyleaf it is true empathy when people prepare and make food in these times . Bless her and her arthritic hands . Good neighbours aren't so common these days so you and her are lucky you have that bond .
MMF I hope you find dad a little better today . Good advice there from Monna . As much as possible look after yourselves , it's draining physically and mentally doing repeated visits during the day . Take care x
Well done on the editing Monna hopefully you'll get it finished soon . I'm eyeing up the thought for the day , tomorrow is the appt with the consultant who makes cruella de ville seem like a very nice lady , please think of dd x

Yes polly, they are so lovely and are one of the few families who've lived here even longer than we have (we've been here 34 years and i think they've been here for 37.) I know I'll be worrying about them while we're away, because their DD has to go away on a business trip the same week, but I'll make sure they have our DS's mobile number so he can help in an emergency if he's near enough at the time.
Best wishes to your DD. I hope her appointment will be better than expected xx0 -
Thanks ivyleaf sometime before midday tomorrow it should be over and done one way or another .
