Was lovely and sunny here too butha but windy and really cold. A summer wedding sounds much nicer. Mind you when my first husband and I got married we came out of the church in a flurry of snow. End of June 69 and it had been forecast I thought it was a joke but made a crochet cape for my little bridesaid making it up as I went along. The photos were interesting everyone dressed for summer as the snow fell. Thinking back now it was the first time my new husband took off his jacket and put it round my shoulders. He did the same again on a chilly day on the IOM where we had our honeymoon. The very last good day was when we went to the airshow when he was in the hospice. It was windy heading in to the beach and he took his warm coat off and put it around my shoulders. He had lost short term memory years earlier after the attack but somehow retained his manners and was still a true gentle man.I hope everyone is OK.i haven't entirly lost the plot. the internet problems continued. No connection at all yesterday apart from a message informing me I was not connected. Router seemed fine but no chance of connecting. Laptop put itself in Airplane mode wjhich never goes well. I was beginning to wonder if there was some sort of cyber attack but no mention on the news though they don;t always mention such things.I still miss my beloved Dell can't remember how many laptops I've had since then. i've only had this since the end of November last year . Still stuck on aeroplane mode so no idea if it will behave later today. I need some sleep.things may be better without the rain. It's not a good idea to be living on a flood plain.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Been busy here too. Knitting another pair of owl gloves for a friend at church for her granddaughter.
My dad's electricity went of at 7.10 this morning and eventually came back on at 3.10 this afternoon. He is 83 and has quite a few chronic medical conditions. DD sent a message through to Northern power grid and got the standard answer of, "Stay in one room, wear lots of layers" etc... and "could he reside somewhere else?" They've never met my dad, obviously! He would stay put no matter what happened, so I took a couple of flasks and hot water bottles and the camping stove to heat some soup later on. I've left the stove with him, as the generator they put in the village might have a fault!

I'm back home and staying here for the next 3 days (staying here permanently but will not be going to the bungalow for 3 days). Ex s-i-l has been very helpful, she keeps coming over with her car and we've done at least a couple of runs each time - over the past two weeks we moved all the 30, 40 and 50 litre garden tubs (have to leave the raised beds but having the tubs is a consolation).
Most of the small stuff has moved (I planned to be home again last week and the week before that but wanted all the paperwork in order first) just need to hire a man and van and get the waste wizards to come for the leftovers (2 seater couch has been broken for a while, I put a board across it and an old garden bench cushion to pad it).
Hit a snag trying to donate furniture - my first choice weren't taking furniture donations so tried another and filled in the online form. Was doing well (if they're collecting furniture they will also take bags/ boxes of smaller stuff at the same time). Got to choosing a date for collection and it asked a third time if the upholstered items had fire labels so paused to make sure. Turned over the footstool and there were bits of yellow where something had been attached - think mum has cut them off because she thought they were untidy. Went back into my list to remove those 3 items and the screen froze.
Anyway s-i-l has decided to take some of the 'problem' items (and her mother has recently had her leg amputated so she will be having the hospital bed - niece said they had one but it was only on short term loan). Just have to find a time when niece's bf has a day off (another colleague went off sick which means he's covering as one of the 2 remaining key holders). Not expecting him to do all the lifting but didn't think it was fair to move stuff to niece's house and have wardrobes etc in her front room until she has help to get them upstairs.
Have made lots of trips to cs (well niece and her bf did most of them), have given lots of tins and toiletries to the food bank, found a charity that does a daily meals for the homeless (they took all the cans of soup the food bank didn't want) and have started a bag for the Ukraine (will probably be 3 bags by the time I go through toiletries again). Have unpacked about 5 boxes today (penny seems to have dropped with DS3 and he has been bringing things upstairs for me).
Probate forms were submitted yesterday (lots of delays due to needing input from my brother - yes he had an email but didn't know what it was called and couldn't open them if he got them), most of the other paperwork is done or in process and I'm just so happy to be home (even if it's messy and most of my stuff is still in boxes). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8 -

Back in the day both gas and electric companies were very proactive but things seem very detached these days and not so concerned about their reputation.Where did you find a pattern for Owl Gloves? Youngest has been obsessed with Wols since childhood . There are Wols living in a tree near where she is shielding and they have been a joy. Are you aware of any patterns for Mitts? She finds gloves too fiddly with the Arthritis.Hope you have a lovely weekend with your frog burtha. It's tiring holding this old fence up so enjoy your break. Fingers crossed we should go bacjk to page 1.Has Pickle outgrown her love of all things Glitter monna? Pity you didn't put all the glitter mountain she used to leave behind after her crafting sessions in your home i bags. Apart from everything else we can't miss your chucking the glitter at the cobwebs Christmas ceremony it would be like the Ravens leaving the Tower or The Liver Birds flying away..I have to brave the shops tomorrow for the first time in weeks . Not normally a Saturday shopper but needs must. Just one shop thankfully unless the shelves are empty. which will require going further afield. Will bring the shopping home then off to pick up a big Wilko order which has been at DDs for the last few weeks . Hoping the weather warms up.Enjoy your weekend all whatever you're doing. Laptop seems to have sorted itself out so fingers crossed it will behave.pollyx

Mothernerd, I'm so pleased that you are back home. You have climbed a mountain or two just lately. Time now for you to be a bit selfish and look after YOU. Don't worry about all the mess and boxes. They won't be going anywhere. Just take a while to rest up and regroup, there's plenty of time for sorting out.
Polly, pickle has a residue of glitter-love left, but it is certainly dwindling. The pink phase has already dwindled and last week she asked her father if he would do something about her bedroom as it was a bit childish now. 9 going on eighteen.
Her father said that picking up all her clothes that were strewn over every surface might help it look a bit more grown up, but that remark was treated with the contempt it deserved.
I went to T*sc* yesterday and didn't notice any gaps on the shelves. Eye-watering rises in prices though, and a mile long queue for fuel.
Son is very amused and commented that if everyone stopped panic-buying there wouldn't be a panic. As he said, "Oh, dear, what's happening? The end of the world is nigh! Better fill up."I believe that friends are quiet angels

Beware as a mum of 4 dds and one son I know which was easier and it wasn't the ones with nail varnish and other substances all over their bedrooms including the furniture.I did put them under the cosh and introduced Feng Shui. they liked that for a while and agreed they slept better without stuff under their beds. Novelty wore off and I threatened to write a book however Don Aslett wrote the book amd rhen more. i waved them off in turn and started geting the house back I still can't cope with stuff on and around beds. The book i'm reading gets put away but I find keeping up with the plot difficult recently .Our litle Coop is a reasonable size we always did some shopping there before going to town. It has been very busy for over a year as it was a better option than many supermarkets.. Hearing of Omicron BA2 and looking at the numbers I'll aim to shop there.I've tracked every time I went shopping since Feb 20 and stay indoors. It isn't many and no socialising apart from a nod and wave to neighboursWe've had the third jab rather than the Booster and that's supposed to be pretty effective.I'll be buying ingredients more than other things due to the iffy electrics in this area. When my gas fire - very hot stopped working the chrismas before last . I bought an eco friendly electric heater . It doesn't reallty heat this large room and hard floors don't help. When Arwen wiped out the gas boiler I lost heat and hot water . a few days later I rememberedt it though it was swtiched off.. I had insisted on keeping the immersion heater it hasn't been used since the heating was installed I went i n to the cupboard in one of the bedrooms clicked the swittch and had hot water quickly I've been told a fix for the boiler but need this flare to go away.Right now I don't fancy crawling along the very long worktop towarss the kitchen corner next to the boiler.I was talking to a freind recently and remembered there are two identical step stools upstairs bought when I spent my £2 coin collection. I never used one for years until I saw the white Hermnes coving height double glass door cupboardsDecided I had to see them before buying so a long trip to the Blue and Yellow store. I bought two of them and two Bekvam under counter or stand alone units for the kitchen with wheels. Think the step stools were Bekvam too and they have been brilliiant it was many years ago. Hemnes cypboards were white but he others plain wood. Pretty well everything that enters this house gets painted with flat white paint so everywhere looks light and bright. So I think it will be try climbing on the worktop to see if the suggestion by sweep./ gas fitter and one of my landlord friends works.Something I have noted the last few years is how much I Prefer needs not wants. I've had to contact my bank a number of times since December as there was a lot of money. in my current account and I had no idea why. Some money from the toxic exs account. He died early December and I've always refused any money from him. Some of it messed uip my pension so I was working between bank and pension service. neither of them believed I was refusing a large sum of money He never paid a bill, clothed his two children or had his name on any of the bills and I wanted nothing.the bank sent me a huge statement which covered the Pandemic era and I was shocked how little I've spent in the last few years. Chocolate and our Teddy Bear V Shape pillows seemed to be the main things , winter socks along with lightbulbs and a new laptop last November. It did turn out the figures were right and I'd been building up savings without realisingI'm always careful with money so have switched my savings to the savings account. Which has good interest.I will know if needed there is plenty for a new heating systemi if needed but will try the OS fix first.Thinking about it I am so glad of an old style upbringing. No Coca Cola clouds behind a Big Mac Sun in my life.Reckon I should head to bed. I'll be fit for nowt in a few hours, pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
