Creeping back in and waving shyly to say very long time no see!
Glad to see a couple of familiar names on the last few pages I've just skimmed.
I honestly can't remember the last time I read let alone posted but it must be years now! For some random reason I suddenly started getting email notifications of comments so reset my password and headed on over.
I used to post on old style way wayback when - first joined up when youngest was a bump and must have been a regular for about 4 years or so then for various reasons it all just dropped off my radar.
Youngest is now 10, coming up 11 and almost as tall as me and oldest, Miss Stilty, will be 13 next month (going on 26) and is all the hormones and chucking stuff! I'm now a fused glass artist and doing lots of markets etc.
Both kids still have their issues from their disabilities but they are walking now (though they do look like they've been chucked out of the pub at midnight) and we are home educating now - it's been nearly 5 years so that may well be one excuse for my prolonged absence!
Old-style has slipped somewhat for convenience as a busy self employed, home educating mum of 2 kids with complex disabilities but i have a nasty suspicion that I might need to use more of it over the next few months.
I'm still making most of our clothes though which saves a fortune, particularly since young master stilty grows like a weed - did I mention he's almost as tall as me! And I'm 5'5"!!
So that's a very quick catch up - looking forward to remembering to log in and catch up much more regularly!10 -

I would always recommend if possible home schooling, it changed my youngests life , reducing the pressures really does help.Apart from me she had an EU funded tutor once or twice a week who did the IT and photography etc which she enjoyed. I thought of those who'd be denied that support after Brexit.I do seem to remember you had problems accessing useful aids. OT in this area were pretty hopeless so remembering the OS ways from my childhood helped fund some things.I can't imagine little Master Stilty as being that tall, always imagine him as a little boy. It's lovely to hear from you after all this time. Sometimes we never know how things go so it's good to hear all is well with you all.pollyx

I feel as though we've fallen down the Rabbit Hole without any warning. This is not the world we enviaged for our loved ones.I was watching a feature on NW News about Western Approaches. The secret headquarters of the Convoy missions during WW2It's having some open events for the public. With the lifting of restrictions re Covid I don't think we'd be travelling down to Liverpool, It's always busy near the Pier Head and the headquarters is near on Exchange Flags. What seems ironic is my RN father, his MN shipmates and the RAF made dangerous joiirneys to Siberia through ice and thick snow, always in danger from UBoats and Landmines. They were taking food and military equipment to help the Russians who were trying to defeat the Nazis.I can't understand how we ended up with so many leaders doing so much damage. If anyone lives near an Amnesty Bookshop they will welcome book donations or purchases from their physical or online book shops.Oxfam and other charities will be glad of help too. These are just two of the charities who will put their boots on the ground Not only in Ukraine but the countries that take the refugeesThe single candle in my signature is from the Amnesty mission statement.I hope everyone is well. Weather has been problematic for many of us but we aren't running to save our lives and our loved ones.Time to count our blessings.pollyx

Oh, I remember my mother and grandma knitting warm gloves and balaclavas for our brave allies in Russia who were freezing and starving while fighting the Nazis.
I can't believe that this is all happening again.
Does no one learn anything from history?
This is exactly how it started last time. One greedy nation, (or greedy leaders, the populace doesn't get much say in it,) thinks that it will flex its muscles and grab a bit of someone else's land, and before you know it the whole world is in chaos.
All we can do is to conduct ourselves with dignity, look after our own small corner and care for the people around us. As a nation we have always championed the underdog and been pretty welcoming to refugees and I hope that is what we will continue to do.
On a less fragrant note.......
My family have all gone off to a Dally Rally today.
If you don't know what a Dally Rally is, it is where all the Dalmations on the Island congregate on a beach for fun and games. Just imagine. 101 Dalmations and their owners having a big meet-up. Our Dora loves it.I believe that friends are quiet angels
