When Mrs M first made rock cakes ( many years ago!) they turned out so bad that I jokingly said " you could kill a cat with that" and the name stuck. So if you get offered a cat killer chez nous its a rock cake in disguise.4

Ah, rock cakes! Haven't made them for years. It's difficult to make a bad one, but with practice it can be achieved.

Haha, monna! I did the ironing this morning, but since lunch I've lost my mojo too. Need to get moving though, to take those rock buns up to my dad.2025 Fashion on the ration

Quick hello from me. To thank everyone who has kept this old fence going since my last post on 21st Jan when we were all talking about Meatloaf and I was about to watch Back into Hell on TVI hadn't been feeling well for a while. Not the dreaded virus but everything was flaring and I thought I had Cystisis. Struggled on feeling steadily worse and finally did the sensible thing and phoned the surgery. That surprised them as I only need the odd antibiotic every now and then. Too busy concentrating on youngests health to accept a lot of he powerful meds she has for the physical heath conditions we share. So possible Cystitis turned out to be a bad kidney infection. It's taking time to get over and as we say in these parts I've been fit for nowt.monna will be relieved to hear that inconvenient memory seems to have deserted me at the moment and I seem to have the memory of a gnat so can't remember the posts I've just caught up on.Just hoping you are all well and plodding on. That David is settled and ok whether he's still in the nursing home or a care package is sorted yet. and monna isn't overdoing things- I wish.Things are ok for your dd and the wedding plans are going well burtha. If we are ever going to finally dance on a table that would be the time! You might have to lift me up though it's a long time since we said we'd do that one day.Wishing everone here good health or speedy recoveries .Weather here has been horrible so hopefully we'll get a decent Spring.Take care all. I'll be back.I've been taking an online Snowdrop walk. Something I've really missed in real life the last couple of years. Think it was Mrs CD and Floss who mentioned the virtual walks so have been travelling from my bed.Yesterdays Man U match seemed to longer than any football match ever. I'd dragged myself downstairs to watch it on the TV and spent most of the time screaming where is David de Gea when we need him?Sometimes it's hard to keep the faith. At least I used to enjoy seeing Ole back where he belonged. Changing managers hasn't helped they did better under the temporary one and Christiano and Bruno seem to have lost the plot.I shall stop ranting and leave you all in peace. I can hear the sigh of relief!pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Oh dear, polly, you have been through the mill.
Hopefully you'll feel a bit better soon and your memory will return(she says, ducking)
It's good to have the technology to be able to go on virtual walks when we can't get out and about. It lifts the soul, I think.
DD loves the rugby so she'll be on the edge of her seat hoping England win! I'm not that bothered, I can take it or leave it.
I'm on a use all food up before it gets too bad to use plan, so we've had risotto made with onion, broccoli, peas and sprouts. Rather tasty it was, and there's a bit left over.
Take care if you have to be out in the wind. It's turning quite stormy out there.2025 Fashion on the ration

Thanks Mrs CD I'm still trying to recover from the longest football match ever. If i had the energy I'd be demanding they bring Michael Carrick back and get David de Gea back in goal now.The techie walks have been really gpod . I've been trying to convince myself it is not a good idea to get another rescue cat. Oliver was run over just after Freddie died so a long time ago but although there's a big cat shaped hole here it isn't a good idea. The only cat we ever lost but even a pandemic isn't a good excuse to get another Mog. I'd probably have it on a collar and lead 24/7Good luck with the use up all food plan. I seem to have eaten too much chocolate lately but I did tell the Dr it's full of iron and as a skinny minny I could do with some weight in this cold weather. Don't think he was convinced though.Pretty sure the memory will return. Have to keep monna on the alert. Perhaps you too. Thought it was just monna and Mar who don't like it.I wonder if it would work on irritating men with dressing up boxes? The Ming Vase failed on its mission. I could go in quoting Meatloaf. I remember everything. I'd take my rolling pin and oilcloth bag and pin my home embellished nappy pin to my lapel as ID.Just watched the weather and tomorrow isn't looking good. Take care and stay warm everyone. I wish Mar would crack on knitting the long awaited Armada lost track of how many years ago she started casting on the stitches for the 1st boat. we could have sailed away years ago if she wasn't obsessed with tracking down jelly babies. You just can't get the staff nowadays.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

For anyone interested I've just started watching BBC4 CH9. Yorkshire Wolds it looks as thought it will be interesting. I'm watching it before Man U kick off at 8pm and trying to chill.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I know didn't expect that but well deserved . My BIL will be over the moon. We used to have heated discussions especially during Fergies glory days. He;s been very patient but he'll be punching the air down in Devon tonight singing Howay the Lads.As for Man U I keep telling myself if Fergie can watch them so should I . He looked frozen during last weeks debacle. The expression on his face would have curdled milk rather like the one on mine. That was Old .Trafford tonight Burnley and the rain poured down. Both times he looked as though he was thinking should have worn an even bigger coat than this big coat. I know that feeling so well;pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Oh you football fiends.
You remind me of my eldest son and his grandfather. One had supported Southampton since the year dot, and the other one supported Liverpool, which completely took over his heart and his bedroom.
When they were drawn together I left the house. Black armbands had been known to arrive by post.I believe that friends are quiet angels
