Love the caterpillars Florenceem.
After purging my tee shirts I started on my socks, to my great excitement found an I'm worn pair with no hole in them. As for the others, I've dug out this book to see if there is anything I can make with them.

Lovely cute caterpillars, Florenceem. Back home from a week in Keswick. Hot and sticky for the first half then colder and wetter the second half! Typical Lakeland weather then! Still, it was nice to get away from everyday life for a little while.
Started a crochet baby blanket while I was there. I'll post a photo when it's finished.2025 Fashion on the ration

morning all, new plaster put on and wrist now set at the most peculiar angle
this is to try to avoid an operation. it's a damn site/sight more painful though. my total respect to all those for whom the most simple tasks become an exhausting battle - i totally get it now.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
That looks horribly uncomfortable VJ. Have they given you some decent pain relief? My advice if there's anyone around to listen is to recline and issue orders.Sorry for going awol. If there was an Olympic gold medal for extreme insommnia it would be mine. night after night no sleep.I've discovered there's an epidemic of it since the pandemic. Just trying to pull myself together as I have to go out. Hoping I'll get a nice taxi driver. I need to shop at the little Coop, running out of all sorts. I ran out of sugar a few days ago , cannot drink tea without sugar and can't function without my brew.On a par with running out of tea during the early brexit panic. Does anyone know if SS is ok? She offered to send me tea back then but the carrier pigeon must have gone missing.Plan is to bring the Coop shopping back here, then head to town for youngests meds and see if Marks food hall is busy. Sun is out and school holidays plus tourist season so doubt it's quiet. Then I head to see dd and the Mogs.Hope you all have a good day. Glad the Ming is behaving her little China self. Maybe she's better behaved when I'm not around.I phoned the surgery in the quieter period yesterday afternoon to see if Superdoc thought I needed an oral steroid to see off this flare. There's a prescription for me today so will pick that up and can do it in town when I'm picking up dds shipping order.Pity cats can't go shopping.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.10 -
Morning all.
Glad you are now all plastered up VJs. Just follow Polly's advice, she knows y'know!
I went to a gorgeous wedding on Sunday. Rev Ali's son married the lovely Aleks who runs the mini-market. The bridegroom is the grandson of my very good friends who kindly stored my furniture in their barn for what was supposed to be a few weeks and ended up being 5 years. It was such a lovely, ceremony. Bells, organ, flowers and the groom didn't have a best man, he had a best sister. The whole family is so loved by everyone that it was a very special day. Afterwards we repaired to my friends farm where lots of tents and gazebos were erected and amazing food and drink were on offer. The bride and groom elected to walk from the church, over the fields to their grandparent's farm, so they arrived, to much cheering, later than the rest of us, Aleks beautiful wedding dress (made by her mother-in-law) having gathered bits of debris along the way. There was a patch of field devoted to the children, with lots of activities and a bubble machine, not to mention jars of sweets freely available. They were happy. As were the various dogs in flower bedecked collars.
And the rain held off until evening.
Back to reality.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You never know, do you? And when you do know, you're never quite sure, are you?
(A vicar I know of, always finished his sermons with this. Everyone knew when to pick up their hymn books for the last hymn.)I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.12 -
Hester sorry have only just seen your post about using up socks. I made some tube dresses for a Barbie doll with odd socks, using a couple of tutorials on utube. Probably work for larger dolls if you had larger socks to use up.VJ hope the plaster works and you don't need the op, and do as Oracle Polly says, give your orders to your minions ! 😁We have DGD ( 9) arriving for a sleepover in a minute, so stand by your beds for the whirlwind. Think she's going for gold in how many different activities we can start get done in 24 hrs, she makes my head spin 😵 I wouldn't swap her.... maybe sell her though 🤣nan
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8 -
nannywindow Sounds as if you're in for a busy but happy time with your DGD
monna What a gorgeous wedding that was7
