Lyn, I love to hear your preparations for winter and the cold weather. I'd love to join you but don't know where I will be when winter arrives.

Mrs LW Not selfish in the least wanting a few days to yourself0 -
Maryb Sometimes a break away con be beneficial as the night pull in and the clocks are due to go back an hour . It can give a bit of a boost .
Busy as usual Lyn . I hope little Orley is seen better . it isn't selfish to wish for a day to yourself every now and then for your own wellbeing .
Monna You can only do what you can when things are up in the air regarding the move . I understand the frustration as I like to prepared as much as possible but it is what it is and you'll be sorted and settled soon . I can't remember which gifts you're making this Christmas so may be worth using this time to concentrate on them . I remember the cushion covers last year and last minute panic . At least you wont have any cobwebs to glitter!
I hope you're well Ivyleaf . I'm just having a catch up . I must say it's good to see the Fence again . I was beginning to think we'd need to clear the cobwebs .
Thinking of Hester and CHS and all the poorlies , carers and worried .

Sciatica being a PITA, as it were! OH and i worked hard a few weeks ago to clear the front border of weeds so i could plant spring bulbs, then we were both unwell and the darn weeds are just as bad again now and i still haven't been able to plant the bulbs! Dunno which is worse, the alkanet or the creeping buttercup!
Kitten trying to help me use the mouse.....0 -
I've been cancelled again, Oreo picked up brilliantly this afternoon and to judge by the screams of laughter from him when his mum rang me he was in fine form! I made sure she knows I'll go tomorrow if they need me but I get to sleep in my own bed tonight, and it won't be long before I go there I'm absolutely tired to the core. DD1 and lovely James come back late tonight from the German trip and HWK is to go across tomorrow as they have a large shed being delivered and he'll help with putting it up. I'll take my overnight bag in case I have to run for the train! looking forward to seeing them again too xxx.0

Ivyleaf I find hot water bottles helpful when the dreaded sciatica strikes . I also use Perskindol gel which helps take the edge off the sciatica and rheumo and arthritis . It isn't as powerful as drug based gels and creams but I prefer to avoid drug based solutions as much as possible . It's just swiss herbs and is comforting .
You can always rely on kittens and cats to be "helpful" you seem to get a lot of joy from his company so worth tolerating the help .

I want to shift logs <<stamps feet>> OH won't let me have a woodburner. Says they aren't necessary.... well neither is his railway magazine or trips away with his mates but that doesn't stop him...
Everytime he asks what i want for c word or birthday I shall just say 'log burner'.
I'm busy busy as ever - up to my neck in data and not sure what to do with it all. have taken a bit of a step away from t'internet, having not had it for a week whilst on holiday and not missing it at all
hope all are wellI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
There is a plan here VJ to move to the nearby village and a multi fuel stove . Luckily it isn't due to happen yet as this year has been full on in many ways .
I often smile and nod at your posts railway related . The flippin' railway magazines , OS Nock and other books took over our old house when my late husband was alive . He not only drove the trains but lived it 24/7 . My son has all his stuff now , books , shed and engine plates the whole lot and the next generation of driver in his teens now .
Apart from trips does your husband do the shed and works open days? They were family days out - oh the joy . The most bizarre thing was he and a couple of friends travelling to the sites of long gone railways and sheds . Often they would find a supermarket or housing development on the site but they would search for evidence of lines and buildings and come home with lots of photographs of random bits of track and the remnants of a few buildings . i suppose they could have been doing worse but you have my sympathy .
