Hi all
just seeking some advice.
I have a clean licence and 100% no claims. I was rear ended at some red lights by another driver who freely admitted fault and said not paying attention. I have damage to rear bumper,,dont know if anything behind that is damaged.
Also suffering whiplash type injusries as is my passenger.
What do i do? Will i suffer detriment/increased premiums if i tell my insurer etc??
thanks

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

You don't have a choice about telling your insurer, so they may well increase your premiums regardless of whether you claim from your own policy.
Claim off the third party's insurer direct, but you'll still need to notify your own for information only.
Whatever you do, don't accept the services of an ambulance chasing AMC, or all of our premiums will go up. Again.0 -
Thanks, how can i claim off the other parties' insurance? it seems unfair that i should suffer any detriment for something that is another persons fault?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). That's just the nature of the beast. (life isn't fair)
Presumably you got their insurance details? Google them and find the 3rd party claims line0 -
One wonders what the point of insurance is. The two parties could just financially settle between them and not bother telling anyone else..?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). What if, when your vehicle is at the repairers, the costs turn out to be more than the other party can/wants to pay? Who is going to pay for your whiplash claim and any loss of earnings you have?
If it makes you feel any better, I had a fault claim last year and do have protected ncd, but my premium didn't go up this year. So it's not definitely the case that your accident will lead to higher premiums.0 -
Thanks,,yes thats the danger i guess you can get into. The guilty party wants to protect themselves by rying to deal outside the system but whats in it for me? i did nothing wrong,i am the injured party in terms of material damage and a ceetain level of pain and discomfort. Why should i take the risk? In fact insurers should protect people like me,no fault victims of undue care and attention, by guaranteeing no rise, otherwise i may as well go for it big time via an AMC...Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). In view of the two injury compensation claims then you ought to consider using an Accident management company (unless you have any legal cover that can deal with this).
Don't attempt to deal directly with the third party insurer yourself over the injuries
An AMC will sort out the repairs as well as the compensation0 -
I see, but if one engages an AMC presumably you still have to inform your insurers of the accident? If an AMC is handling it how is the insurer kept in the loop and what part do they play? How is a no fault accident recorded in those circs and will using an AMC likely affect future premiums in a no fault situation? tnxFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Yes, you must inform your insurers. Whatever route you take, you must inform them because if you don't and the accident becomes known to them at a later date, you could find your insurance cancelled which will lead to it being very difficult to get insurance in future without paying big premiums. Why would you not inform them when the accident was serious enough to cause you physical harm?
An AMC doing its job properly will keep your insurers informed. Until liability is formally determined, the accident will go down as the fault of both parties, so if you're due for renewal imminently, it will be taken into account.
You're still linking fault with premiums. An accident - where you are to blame or entirely innocent - means you are perceived as an increased risk, and many insurers will increase your premium accordingly. It's how insurance works. Some won't but you won't know until you come to renew or if you do dummy quotes online with and without the accident recorded.0 -
