Bedtime...or rather thin, mattress topper time! I am rather going on about it aren't I ?

    Today I made minestrone soup.

    Washing out in & ironed.

    Caught up on some tv.

Pandered to the poorly. She had breakfast in bed!

We went to visit our friends this afternoon. I made brownies. We had home made salamis, cheese & crackers to nibble on. Then a chicken casserole with couscous which was nice then brownies with fresh strawberry. All eaten outside on their verandah. Stunning views . Much laughter.

    Lovely chat with my niece.

    Some friday pleasures,

Traffic was relatively light as we drove up to the Midlands to collect the lovely Lulu.

She loaded like a dream and, apart from first couple of miles when she stomped her feet to make presence known, she travelled very well.

Home and straight out to field, eyes on stalks as flat fens means that there is a lot to look at, but she settled in well and was soon munching grass.

Cheeky takeaway treat and a glass of wine.

Early night as very tired and slept right through.
  • K Boss. Proper foods. Good on yer!
Skint. Again. Proper food in case you don't know what it looks like!
    zw10s1.jpg
Note the crust, and proper cheese knife. Proper cheese from Ulceby Top!

5 No bloody rest for BoP is there! I come on hear you deeds and gives yous lot what I think. And what thanks do I get. No more. In future fester amongst yourselves! Rant Over!

4 BrekFest this morning we had two rashers of best back, button mushrooms in butter, SKINT, proper butter! Star cut grilled toms, toast topped with poached egg, tinned toms. Crumpet with proper raspberry jam! Tum was rubbed and fresh squeezed orange was drunk.

3 Watched nine lives last night of flic of net. Great film. I'm sure that Raffles was getting ideas from it. Wobbleades were consumed, with proper cheese. Yummy!

2 Night I think I will be in town. More later.

    Enough of this nonsense!

Took down nice curtains, marked dry clean only - which I hadn't noticed at the time of purchase due to various stressors like having had builders in the house for eight months, aargh!

I digress. With the help of OH I took down the curtains for washing and putting away for the winter as, although lined, they're nearly transparent. Anyway I popped them on a delicates rinse cycle with an Eco Egg (environmentally friendly bui not cheap. Hung them on the line while I went to the shops. This took a couple of hours as it required a six mile drive each way.

As I drove home I remembered that I'd found a pair of heavy off white cotton curtains that wrinkled every time you looked at them. I'd Kondoed my cupboard and decided to donate. Thankfully I had procrastinated like mad and had only put them in the bag.

Got home - curtains beautifully dry. Heavy curtains hung inside to make liners and they are perfect so no need to haul out useful but much disliked winter curtains. So - does a slightly smug glow of satisfaction count as an OS pleasure? I'm going with it anyway!

    1. Used Groupons (so felt free) tickets to take DD to the cinema this afternoon.

    2. Managed to get a bit of work done beforehand, but am starting to panic at what I have left to do tomorrow! At least I got some done, eh?!?

    3. Slept really well, I've got a heavier duvet on as it's getting less summer-like, and it seems to be helping my sleep patterns :):)

    4. Surprised KW at the fair trade shop :) DD found a wind chime she fell in love with, so have asked KW to buy it and hide it for me, as they tend to only get one of anything in, and I'd love her to have it.

    5. Got the train to cinema town, which will have saved us a packet using our family railcard - it was cheaper for us both to go than it would have been for me to go on my own! Much, much cheaper than parking in town.

    6. One of my lovely friends invited us over for dinner after the cinema, yummy pasta, scrummy ice cream and Strictly on TV. Bliss!

    7. For lunch, we bought sourdough bread and Cheddar for lunch, whilst sitting on a bench in the sunshine. I wasn't organised enough to take a picnic....

    8. Managed to get DD some new school shoes and had a lovely chat with the sales assistant.

    9. Took our own popcorn in to the cinema - bought by DD as a thank you for me buying the cinema tickets. Drinks were courtesy of home :)

    10. Daddykins has lent me what looks like a fabulous library book.

    11. He also used his birthday present, a ticket to go and see a famous historian talk, and was really impressed. Mummykins, sadly, wasn't well enough to go.

    12. Got DD back home safely through the not quite as friendly as the West End streets that we last walked through. Cinema town has quite an aggressive feel at night, but DD still loves to hold my hand, so I nattered away to her and kept a beady eye out for n'er do wells!

    A few pleasures for Thursday/Friday before Saturday's.

    1) Good old Andy at bigger son's college fiddled about with his timetable so he will be getting home at 5 most days with just 1 or 2 7pm arrivals home.

    2) Smaller son liking his new timetable - loads of catering, sports science, new English teacher. His first cooking will be golden vegetable soup.

    3) Went to see my friend in town on Friday morning for a cup of tea.

    4) Hens well.

    5) Enjoyed Gogglebox last night.

    6) Smaller son has got obsessed with the "Educating" season so we are working our way through Educating Yorkshire.

    Pleasures for today (Saturday)

    1) A lie in!

    2) Actually stood up to my ridiculous neighbours for once. I had seen him go backwards and forwards to his skip a lot of times - then noticed he was using my wheelbarrow! So I said I needed it on the allotment (obviously I then had to put it in the car and actually take it down there). Apparently he "thought it belonged to his builder" though why his builder would leave his wheelbarrow in my garden is anyone's guess...

    3) Hens very well and I spent about an hour and a half talking to them and weeding.

    4) Did various bits of washing up and changed the bunk beds.

    5) Finished my NQV! (I think). Can't believe how long it has taken - the whole thing has been a palaver from beginning to end. I thought I finished it in April and heard nothing back from my tutor until the last day of term in July when she suddenly showed me some bits that needed re-writing.

    6) Went to my brother's birthday dinner at a local Indian and that was very nice, if packed out. Sons also went and enjoyed it. Bigger son had made him a bottle opener complete with stamped in initials.

When they take your orders, they start with the most mature lady first then work their way down to the youngest, then do the same with the men. So my mum ordered first then, with no hesitation, they asked my sister what she would like! She did mention it afterwards as she is over 6 years younger than I am. :-D

    7) We followed parents' car on the way home and put the Last Night of the Proms on radio 3. We pulled up behind them at a junction and my brother (sitting in the back) turned round and did some conducting to us through the back window!

    8) Going to bed in a minute to listen to the Now Show and perhaps Mock the Week.

    Saturday,

    1. 3 shops at different supermarkets. Paid 1/2 price for each shop with various coupons and discounts. :j

    2. Visit to Oxfam shop. Got woollen dress and coat.

    3. Snook to Caffè Nero for coffee while DH went to visit DMiL.

    4. Went to friends house for dinner. Yummy food as always.

    5. Mammoth holiday photo sharing.

(Noticed how hugely overweight I am on the photos :( Not doing much for the self esteem.)
  • 1) Poorly baby on Friday was better by Saturday and hadn't given his 'bugs' to any of the rest of us, thankfully!

    2) Lovely walk in the lanes and along the footpaths with Sue, Charlie retriever and Cookie dog.

    3) Managed to tackle 'beanopolis' and gave away 3 large bags to various friends.....RESULT!!!

    4) He Who Knows is able to drive again, no too far but still managing to drive which has told us an awful lot of useful information about where and what we relocate to in the fullness of time. Being in a village, active, mobile, driving and fit is one thing and is a lovely life BUT being in a village not able to drive, feeling unfit and not too mobile is very restrictive! Lesson learned at just the right time!

    5) We're going to the garden centre for coffee this morning and then on to the Farm Shop for (hopeful) some nice local apples and pears. The Discovery apples that are earliest ripe in the UK and fragrant and crisp and pink inside ought to be in the market now but I haven't seen them in the supermarkets. The Farm Shop tries get produce from the local area to sell so, if I'm lucky appley deliciousness shall be MINE!!!
