Good morning,
I am very impressed by people setting off on camping adventures! DH has always refused, but me and the kids used to love taking the tent to the campsite near Alton Towers and staying overnight. That is the most adventurous we have been though!!!
Our Grand Day Out Yesterday
1. Trip to London, just me and DH.
2. Found free parking space within walking distance of Kings Cross.
3. Barbican for Sci Fi exhibition. (Concession cos Art Fund Membership ). Thought we would have to wait until 5pm for entry, but someone just returned some tickets, and we got in at 2:45. 3 hours wandering around nerd fest!
4. Strange pleasure for some people, but I really love the Barbican. I love Brutalist architecture. I am one of the minority who was sad to see Birmingham Library demolished.
5. Beautiful evening for stroll to St Paul's and view of St Paul's from the roof terrace at One New Change. Watched all the beautiful people posing in the wine bar, while we enjoyed the view across London for free:rotfl:
6. Dinner at zizzi with discounted Buyagift voucher. (Buyagift sent me £10 of code, it would be rude to refuse).
7. Lunch was purchased from Waities at Kings Cross. We sat outside at the picnic tables and enjoyed our free teas with our sandwiches watching the world go by.
8. Saw a shooting star on the way home, so me and DH stood outside for a while with a nice cup of tea watching for the perseids. I'm sure we saw them. It wasn't just a trick of the eye, was it?
Sleep was a bit rubbish again. Woke up from a horrible dream. Worrying about work already0 -
Some from the last week or so.
A few days away in France, lovely weather. Relaxing few days and did very little.
Swam in the sea every day which I love.
Met friends and had a BBQ with them. It was an enjoyable evening and great to catch up with them.
Since been home I've met a friend for coffee and shared a chocolate brownie. Also a free coffee with the loyally card.
DS2 has tidied his room!! Moved furniture around and it looks great. Bin is full!! He hasn't touched the shelf in his wardrobe though.
Did some gardening and cleared another small area and DH mowed the lawn.
Next door had a BBQ and kindly gave us leftovers. Easy tea and then we stayed out to watch the meteor shower but did keep going in to watch the athletics.0 -
Sunday
Up early and out and about with the dog first thing. Lovely walk just as sun was coming up.
Continuing with clearing. went through my clothes and a bin liner full off to the charity recycling bin . I think they sell what they can and salvage what they can't.
Another few dog walks.
Hoovered, washed floors, did an ironing, made lentil soup.
A woman on the course I was at the other day has had a book self published , she had sent us all the PDF of it so sat and read that. Let's just say I was glad I hadn't bought it ( is that too mean?)
DD1 sold her bass guitar within half an hour of putting up for sale.
Woman who has mucked me about for picking up items continued to and said she couldn't for personal reasons! Whatever love! Lesson learned!
Chit chat and much laughter with kids on my bed and a mad dog under it!
Thai takeaway for tea.
Have a good day.0 -
Oh enjoy the Scottish camping trip dfv happy, happy memories of time spent as kids, my darling Dad was a fervent get away from it all type
Saturday pleasures,
Scrambled eggs and rtc Heston Bloomincostalot smoked salmon for breakfast treat.
Sort out of me smalls and several badly fitting bras packaged up ready to be sent out to breast cancer care.
Missing mum so spent the afternoon in the kitchen baking, our saturday ritual from years gone by, happy times.
Disgruntled little dog being walked on lead, despite bribery she persists in snaffling mushrooms, might need a grazing muzzle
Didn't stay up until 1am but did catch a shooting star on late night walk around garden.0 -
Saturday pleasures
1.Early morning cuppa, peace and quiet before the "mum mum mum" chorus
2. Fun times watching littles take down tents for scout leader daddy. I was astonished at how much they knew and I got told off by both for doing it the wrong way.
3. Lovely day out NationalTrust Hughenden Manor, house was beautiful and the girls enjoyed the alice in wonderland trail. Frith- shame you didn't get the nt job, we have found there are two different kinds of people at the properties. Those who are happy to chat and involve you in the history and those who do not say a word and scowl at the children in case they touch something.
4. Quick easy dinner of rtc chicken with salad and coleslaw. Easier than a takeaway and cheaper too.
5. Washed down with an ice cold cider, feet up,candles lit surrounded by my loves.SIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:
Very BNPL - £353.000 -
Internet has been up and down, work has been down and downer, so between the two I have been awol and pleasures a bit over swamped by m'ehness. So...
1) DD2 has hopefully fixed internet. She has broken one of mrpiano's photo frames oops so no-one say anything.mr piano's gone to Spain for 2 weeks
2) went to garden centre with dd2. We had strawberries and cream :P
3) I bought a tv cabinet. Half price as display model. It looks lovely
4) on the way back we called in at mr t and I spent my £15.50 vouchers that 'must be spent by end of august'
5) gbf back from Germany. We went for a long walk with the boys.
Was supposed to be off this week but work is m'eh and have to go in Tuesday and Thursday. Rest of the week we (me and the girls) are working through the house :-)

Pleasures for last few days - in vaguely chronological order
1) Walked to and from St Michael's Mount across the causeway.
2) Went to Godolphin for sandwiches and a look round.
3) Ice cream and a walk at Church Cove beach.
4) Lots of swimming and jumping off ever higher rocks at Cadgwith.
5) An exciting 2am when a Toyota truck tore through Cadgwith (tiny, single track lane and steep) and smacked into the wall, dislodging stones and pebbles and ruining the truck! Some very drunk young men fell out, all shushing each other then disappeared.
6) Sons very much enjoyed the zip wire at the Eden Project.
7) Also enjoyed the youth hostel (stayed 2 nights) where your rooms and made from shipping containers.
8) Spent Saturday looking round the Eden Centre.
9) Fowey beach in the evening for more swimming.
10) Went out 11.30 last night to watch the meteorites. There had been a wedding in the Eden Centre during the evening so we could hear the music from the reception playing.
11) Drive home OK today (7 hours!)0 -
Morning,
Can't sleep!
Frith - zip wire at the Eden Project! How fab! I would love to stay in a shipping container......very George Clarkes Amazing Spaces!
Yesterday.....
1. Saw DS2 off to NCS. Hope he will have an amazing time.
2. Emptied the fridge to make BBQ for our pet sitters.
3. BBQ with too much food, but we can live on leftovers for a few days :rotfl:
4. Catching up with everyone's adventures for the last few weeks.
5. I can see the bottom of the washing baskets!
6. Found a Demi's Rousos LP and The Sound of Music LP in Barnardos. We shall probably listen to them once, and return them to the charity bag. Tee Hee!
There is a lot of m'ehness here too. I don't really know why, other than worrying about going back to work. That is why I am awake now. I woke up about 2:30am thinking about work.:(0 -
1. Managed to have a lie in for me. Still up an hour before DH!
2. Went to an open day in a fruit farm. Very interesting guided tour and learnt quite a bit. Some recommendations for fruit trees too. Only problem was being stung by something but pleased i had taken antihistamines for hayfever before I went.
3. Went to a plant show at another garden. It's a garden we go to a couple of times a year as is lovely. Only came away with a couple of plants to fill in some soaces.
4. DS1 came round briefly. He starts his new job today. Same company but different office so slightly nervous. The hours are better which will be good with no Sunday shifts and only Saturday morning.
5. DS2 chatty and telling us about cricket. His team lost (they generally do)0 -
In bed early but I've been up since early.
Work , paid .
Had an appointment at school. Accomodation between vacating house at end of lease & flying home. Deposit paid ...wages obliterated!
DD1 bought brunch.
The most beautiful day. Spent a couple of hours gardening.
Tawny frogmouths in tree.
Friend called to say her husband had died at weekend. Neighbour told me her husband had his heart transplant on Thursday & is doing well so far.
Walks with dog. blossom on trees.
Chat with other neighbour who minds Haggis for us if need be. So I'm going to take some plants down to theirs and they keep bees so our plants might help make nice honey.
Have a good day.0
