Mr Dog has been fine today...I woke up on sofa !t 8.30am .
Not done terribly much. Dizzy with labyrinthitis.
Friend came for tea. Made chicken & veg pie. Honey roasted carrots & parsnips and mashed potatoes. Very delicious. Choccy sponge for pud.
Lay on sofa and read mostly this afternoon, finished first book in ages.
Got a parcel of Christmas gifts from friends in Queensland. They're under the tree.0 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) A lie in!
2) The washing machine man came and said it needs a new control panel. Which is exactly what I told him over the phone - just a shame he had to check for himself so didn't bring one with him! He'll be bringing it on Friday...
3) Part baked rolls for lunch with chicken, soft cheese, peppers and tomatoes - a smaller son favourite.
4) Hens well and I'm planning a bonfire on the allotment tomorrow to get rid of raspberry canes, rubbish and leaves.
5) Gammon for tea with roast veg and stuffing.
6) Bigger son went to games night with my brother and brother in law.
7) Watched TV with smaller son.
8) Had a Christmas card from one of my cousins - which is a first!0 -
Good morning All,
IPad has updated. Misbehaving. Here goes.......
1. No lessons today, as Nativity in the morning and students stayed in class with a video for the afternoon. Helped my TA tidy DT room and organise folders for next term.
2. Christmas dinner with one of my favourite classes. I love school dinner!
3. Get together after school. Tea and cake. (We are not very good at social occasions these days, but it was pleasant)..........some of us were watching a video of the last staff pantomime, with our old HT, just before she retired. Pre OFSTED. I was crying with laughter. (Did not see most of the performances, as I was back stage)....... No fun allowed in Education these days.(Sorry, did not mean that to turn into a moan).
4. Carol concert at Symphony Hall. Annual tradition. Narrated by Ore Uduba. He was fab! Beautiful singing by the choir, and CBSO were outstanding in their costumes this year :rotfl:
5. Wore my red dress and Santa hat. Festive!
Have a lovely day0 -
1. Was my physio and she managed to click my back into place. Feeling much better and have me advice and exercises to try and prevent it happening again.
2. Chat with a colleague and hopefully have her some needed support.
3. Wrapped most of the Christmas presents. Feeling more organised now.
4. Had a chat with DS1. He has left work at a reasonable time which was good.
5. Early night as an feeling very tired at the moment.0 -
Been awol due to horrid cold. Had written a long post Saturday, not least thanking bop for keeping notts county to a draw, allowing us to go clear top (cos I hold you totally responsible for mariners’ performance lol) but it got lost. 2 days to go...
Thank you for your kind thoughts for ds’s gf and her sad loss
1) Friday staff party was fab. I spent much of it having congratulatory champagne from 2 of the vice principals. Must get promoted more often lol
2) Saturday was a bit ruff. Not sorry park run iced off
3) nativity rehearsal then spent a lovely couple of hours sitting in nero’s writing my Christmas cards. All written, all posted. Then off to New Mexican for dd1’s birthday dinner
4) Sunday morning the cold hit big time so not much to update since then. Slept most of Sunday. Probably foolishly went in Monday and Tuesday and was much worse yesterday so am staying home today!
5) dd2 decorated tree last night. She was going to wait till Christmas Eve but we decided solstice was a good time to fill the sitting room with light. I sat on the sofa sneezing. I have a new nativity set from traidcraft.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good news on your back VL.
Wednesday pleasures,
Scrambled eggs on toast set me up for marathon housekeeping session.
This included washing all the wooden floors downstairs until eventually the dogs and I were marooned in kitchen, sat on floor with them and had loads of cuddles
Out eventually and found some lovely Holly wreaths at the local nursery for the graves, including one for my DB with ribbons the right colour for his footie team.
Over to see the beautiful Lulu, she was remarkably clean despite the mud!
As tradition we brought the Yule log in from the shed, wrapped it in greenery and placed red candles in drilled holes, I cheat as it's not burnt each year but kept for the following Yule.0 -

5 So busy at work damping the fires that I am sweating like a bucket!
More tomorrow!0 -
Art'noon
The shortest day is here and so we turn back towards the light
(i probably say this every year, but it is a truly significant day for me - you were right about that Ampersand)
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Early train to London after all - decided that if it had to be oxford St then it had better be early. Porridge was consumed and i think we were sat opposite Jamie Redknapp - someone footbally famous anyhow
2. Oxford St at 9.00 is OK except that several shops didn't have what i wanted, and they were the reason i went... But it seems to mostly be sorted now
3. Good supervision, she RIPPED into my questionnaire but that was the purpose of the meeting. i may be getting a new supervisor as one of mine has been ill for so long
4. Train back via birmingham and met DD at new st so came back with her. Lots of walking yesterday
5. Cooked chicken wraps for tea to use up odds and s0ds. They were OK.
And for today
1. had a bath with Bancroft - good serial, AWFUL ending
2. Good long convo with older brother about probate stuff.... the convo being the pleasure, not the probate, and him telling me that younger sibling scrapes are not for me to worry about.. I think i am feeling like everyone's mum right now
3. Begg for brunch and cooking lasagne for tea
4. washing hung on the line for a while
5. Solstice....
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Just in from panto, oh yes I am. Hilarious. Lovely seeing such joy on my children's faces & that DS was joining in!
Busy day.
Nice dog walk, just me and my dog boy first thing.
Tesco. One bunch of flowers down to £1.50 ( from £6) other had RTC ripped off...asked lady who was pricing things down would other be the same? Oh, they're yesterday's they shouldn't be out. Can I buy them ? Not really. Really? Haggled and got them for 25p a bunch.
Made lentil soup & parsnip & apple soup . Friends came for lunch. I had parsnip & apple it was delicious! They brought cream cakes for pud. Lovely afternoon of laughter with them. It's so good to see my children reconnect with our friends.
Then the minister visited. Which was a lovely surprise but very welcome and we had a good chat & some more laughter.
Then niece called, could they come visit, yes but we needed to leave at 5.30pm to go in to town for panto. GN had her tea and a hot chocolate, opened the advent boxes, had a hug and off they went. She's back tomorrow for a sleep over.
Panto...free parking, sweets from pound shop and much hooting of laughter.
A good day0 -
Small collection.
1. Cleaner, tidier house thanks to the cleaners. (They work as a team of two).
2. The tree is up, and I have RSI from four hours spent putting the decorations on. A friend gave me a lovely tree decoration bought in a gift shop in Lichfield, Staffs, so I have a decoration from yet another location in the UK.
3. Sorting out a birthday present for a friend online. She gave me precise instructions as to what she needed, and Am@zon Prime came up trumps. Now it just has to arrive...
Her 'next day delivery' Moonpig birthday card turned up looking rather battered, 3 days later than expected. Conversely, a skirt turned up a day earlier than expected.
4. A gorgeous meal in the company of friends. I had vouchers for a 2 for 1 meal, three vouchers could be used at any one time, so our party of four was able to benefit fully.
My arthritis was agony today, and my dear friends were so kind and patient. TG for a blue badge, although the layout of the building - a Brewers F@yre adjoining a Premier 1nn - still meant a longish walk from and to the car park.
5. Your pleasures, thank you.
As I told you on FB, Haggis, 'Whatever next?' was not a challenge to your ingenuity in picking out the only toxic foods in the household to eat. When your Mum said how much cheaper the vets were over here, that did not mean she wanted you to take advantage of the fact, beautiful boy.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
