Is this illegal parking?

No need to be all smug about being right. So they are not very clever. Fine, doesn't make them bad people.
On the contrary, they seem very clever. They get a free parking space and you are giving them the benefit of the doubt.
They do seem like bad people. It's one thing to chance your arm and park in someone elses space, but it's a whole different ball game to refuse to stop parking there when asked and instead make up some bull hoping you'll give up. Good people would not act in that way.0 -

Neighbours mother always used to park in our spot on a rental we had years ago. Nobody else did, just her. We had months of asking her not to, even her daughter and husband told her not to. In the end I got home one evening blocked her in and opened a tin of beer. Got a knock on the door an hour later asking me to move and I had to explain that I was very sorry but I could not move my car due to being drunk. Due to insurance purposes I was also unwilling to let anyone else move it. Never a problem after that.0 -
Shall update you how goes this evening, shes out at the moment, will get a bit of a shock cant steal the space when comes home from work, will show her our deeds and that we own that space and from now is very much not entitled to trespass. If carries on we will report to local authority who i have already spoken with and have confirmed with me their is something we can do about it. Failing that will install a bollard. Problem is house has been empty for a long time, we have only just moved in and even then we arent living there full time till weekend - so perhaps gotten used to using space and having no one complain about it. Update this evening!0

I had this on the property I purchased, everytime I visited it, I would ask the neighbours to shift their cars. I even put notes in letterboxes saying the house is no longer empty. In the end I had to tell them the cars would get towed without warning. Still get the odd problem, people can just try and push their luck, need to be firm.
I would get your car parked in therer pronto, even try and get a friend to leave their car there, or a trailer or something.0 -
I'd start by asserting the space as mine with some prominent house number signage and/or number painting in the spot.
Also, show her the deeds and explain veerrry slowly that her deeds shows what's hers ....and your deeds show what's yours .... nodding your head slowly might help it sink in.
I had a similar problem with land that is mine that contains a numbered spot; everybody and his dog thought they could park outside of the numbered bit ... a simple "NO...." sign did the trick.0 -
Can you elaborate, because this is genuinely not something the authorities have powers over.Shall update you how goes this evening, shes out at the moment, will get a bit of a shock cant steal the space when comes home from work, will show her our deeds and that we own that space and from now is very much not entitled to trespass. I totally agree with this, except that OP hasn't even yet shown them the evidence that they own the place. They do seem like bad people. If after they do -assuming they are correct, as who knows, maybe they are confused!-, they still park there, then yes, I agree, that's when you can start acting defensive.
So far, OP just seems to regale in the knowledge that they will be able to wipe the smile off their faces.0 -

The OP hasn't behaved like that at all... you're misreading.0 -
