'morning all, up at silly o'clock, could not get back to sleep thinking about getting to Lidl for this blooming mini oven.
Time not really wasted, did a bit of web "stuff" I've been putting off, and now time for breakfast, which I think will be the CFO standby of toast
If I get this mini oven it will have it's maiden voyage at lunch time with a mini pizza YS from yesterday, pimped up with extra bits, like mushroomsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Morning all. Hope you get your mini oven Faraway it looks like a good addition to any CFO kitchen.
Lovely looking day here with sun and blue skies. Shame I'm working really as no doubt it'll be back to rain and wind tomorrow
I had a very enjoyable evening with my neighbours last night even though I didn't know anyone except them. Lots of barbecued food and salads - I had a burger in a bun and a couple of sausages as I'm not too keen on barbecue to be honest. A couple of cheeky glasses of wine and I slept like a log.
Usual pack up for lunch and tea is a lasagne and some salady bits that need using up. Am going down to see what the kitties have all been up to overnight. Millie who was hiding by the freezer is now coming out spitting and hissing at everyone and everything even the cat that she lived with. She's got some sassy attitude:)
Have heard from my youngest son too he's now finished the camp and is on his travelling adventure now. He's gone from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia and is currently in a youth hostel while they explore Philadelphia for 3 days then onto Washington I think.0 -
Farway I hope that you manage to get your oven, and that you enjoy your pizza for lunch.
I've just had some scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast.
I think that I will open another tin of tuna and have a tuna mayo sandwich for lunch.
For dinner I have got a small loin of lamb out of the freezer and I'll have that with some roast potatoes and steamed veg. I may even make some yorkshire puddings. There will be left over yorkshires for the freezer but I am always happy to eat them with a lot of things so they won't hang about in there for long.

There's never a shortage of the ovens.... in my experience. I've always seen them long after "the day". So I'm sure you'll get it.
The first thing you have to do is turn it on full for 20 minutes.... I am petrified of that "burning off of the coating" they tell you about in the manual - and petrified of anything bursting into flames - and I was lucky enough to buy mine on a good day .... so I got an extension lead and did that bit outside
I went car booting; there's one that's usually good on one Sunday of the month in the summer just ½ mile from me .... I've been there at "doors open" before, but last month it was a nightmare as nobody had the keys to open the gates, so the whole area was in gridlock and it took me longer to drive than I could've walked it! So this time I went later.... I only had a £20 note, so stopped off at a Nisa local store to break that - but, shuffling round to see what they sell, I felt "conspicuous", especially when a member of staff (getting in my way/shelf filling) asked if they could help me (always makes you feel like a shoplifter) ... so I ended up buying a bag of 3 warm sausage rolls for £1.
I did see they sell samosas too .... really fancied one of those - they're always on my list of things to make.... another thing I never get round to making, but always intend to.
So, breakfast was a warm sausage roll in the car at the car boot. I then walked round and round the car boot for a full 3 hours (went round really slowly twice) and saw/bought absolutely nothing! Waste of time.
Back to the car and I scoffed the remaining two sausage rolls....
Sunny here.... no idea what's for lunch.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I've had the most wonderful time at my friends, they are wonderful hosts and fantastic company. :DThe food, wine and conversation flowed and much chat and laughter ensued. I only fell over once and that was before the booze ...... The food had a fish/seafood theme and we took our time enjoying it over a number of hours so despite eating loads it was light so I didn't end up feeling over full. We had a nice cooked brunch of bacon, poached egg and sausages before heading home so that's me back to CFO until Thursday night when my son is coming home for a couple of days.
I'm not sure about dinner tonight - I suspect steak and probably steamed tatties and veg . I'll think about taking something out of the freezer in a bit.0 -
Farway Towers now has a mini oven. I was there at just before 10 opening, only a few of us & plenty of ovens, enough for me anyway. By the time I came out the car park was heaving and folk looking for spaces, amazing in 20 minutes
Just a big space where the kitchen rolls offer was, but did pick up a YS pack of sausage rolls on the way to the till, and a mini egg frying pan
Oven "burnt off" with window open, lunch pizza duly cooked in it and kitchen re arranged, bye bye never used juicer
One more slice of Queen Mary's choc cake eaten for pud
Dinner I think is really CFO CBA Sunday dinner, cheese on two toasted LO crusts [using gas grill ] with LO beans. I may just Christen the mini egg pan and plop a fried egg on top
PN, have you read the instructions with the mini pan? "Boil 2 or 3 times before use". A good job no one reads or follows instructions

I've got one of those mini frying pans and can honestly say that I have never boiled anything in it 2 or 3 times before use :rotfl: Think I gave it a quick wash under the tap and fried an egg in it.0

That is just what I intend doing
Actually the instructions read like the pan should be boiled, not just have water boiled in it. I Guess something got lost in translationEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I am having a yearning for sausage rolls now - warm and yummy. Luckily I have no money to buy any so can't fulfil this unhealthy yearning anytime soon0

Instructions aren't always essential; they're just 4rse-coverers for insurance purposes these days.0
