Anyone would think your cats are Maine Coons squirrelsmall - by the number of times they seem to land up in the water. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Man Overboard".:rotfl:Shame they're probably not - as that breed seems to like the water ....judging by all the YouTube clips of them getting into it/demanding baths/etc.:cool:0

Looked through the freezer to see what could be eaten - what's taking up the most space - and spotted the small (560g) frozen chicken breast joint I bought the other day. I've half a mind to stick that in the slow cooker ... although, ideally, I'd have preferred to have taken it out yesterday and had it defrosting....
So, on reflection, maybe I should take it out now for defrosting. I'll do that, then it can go in the SC tomorrow.
I'm happy enough to stick it into the SC still frozen, on high at first.... but would prefer to have defrosted it first, "just to make doubly sure".
Running just one drawer of food in the freezer certainly focusses your mind on what you've already got! Having the spare/empty drawer means you've always got a spot for those bargains, or over buys .... but it's easier to eat/manage what you've already got by using just one drawer.
So, for now .... I'll keep doing that.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Oven chips have arrived and are safely stashed in the freezer , so something & chips for dinner tonight:D. Definitely won't be anything salady though as it's grey, cold and windy here today. I didn't get round to breakfast so will have an early lunch. I'm going to use some of the LO leek & parsley sauce to make a sort of frittatta with some other lurking veg and smoked cheese!
I need to make pate to take to my friends' tomorrow but might leave that to the morning. I'm heading to get my haircut this afternoon for the first time in 14 months so suspect I won't feel like doing over much when I get back. :cool:0 -
Good afternoon all!
Oven chips are in the oven for lunch as I type and I have two slices of bread defrosting ready for butter and tomato sauce
At my parents for tea tonight which is apparently going to be shepherds pie, broccoli, carrots and of course homemade gravy. No idea on pud it shall be a surprise.
One cat is now fully exploring the downstairs of the house and having a hissing contest with the resident cat every time they clap eyes on each other :rotfl: The other cat is still camped down the side of the freezer although she didn't bother when I put 6 portions of celery and potato soup in there and slammed the lid shut accidentally.
Caron Enjoy your hair cut
PN Sounds like a good idea for your freezer as it still allows you to make purchases based on what you see in the supermarket that you want to eat and is a good price.0 -
I just had some more Greek yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast. I wanted something easy.
For lunch I have had a pastrami and salad sandwich. It was y/s in Tesco this morning and I haven't had pastrami for four or five years, I've enjoyed it as a nice change.
Dinner will be a lamb shank in a red wine and garlic sauce which is in the slow cooker at the moment. I'll have that with some steamed veg and new potatoes.
I have to admit to having had a crumpet mid morning, and now fancy a chip butty!

I can report that the chip butty was amazingly good and I enjoyed it a lot! Went for chips with gravy in the end and made a chip butty with one slice and cleaned the gravy off my plate with the other one :T0

Afternoon folks. Now I fancy chip butty, but lunch has gone. Another day perhaps
Sunny day again but dinner was decided before then with cooked LO roast chicken leg bit out & defrosting, so not salad
Nil breakfast, but lunch was BLT sandwich, with a couple of digestives, duly dunked, for "afters"
Dinner will be the chicken, plus steamed fresh veg, including more runners
Probably prepare the apples later. Undecided whether to bung the blackberries in or just leave as apples and freeze the blackberries. I keep thinking blackberry & apple jam, I have loads of apples ripening on the tree and sure as hell can't stew & store them all.
Last year when I was more wobbly than I am now I left them to rot & feed the birds overwinter, this year the birds will get their share but I want some as wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I popped to L1dl - and for those CFO moments when you only need a tiny frying pan ...they're selling Ernesto small frying pans at the moment, £2.99. Difficult to say how small they are .... think "individual small quiche" sized, so 4" or so. You'd fit just ONE fried egg in one ... or one burger. No more.

I popped in there to get some sausage rolls. I really really fancied some pastry and it was that or a pie. Been mulling it over for the last few days as the urge to eat pastry grew.... so I am about to eat 3 hot sausage rolls.
Yes, I know "2 is really a portion".... but I've gone for 3 because ...I CAN!!0 -

- spotted something saying how there is a holistic American doctor (and opponent of Big Pharma) that has died suddenly whilst still quite young. Googling later and there are over 60 holistic US doctors that have died suddenly recently (some of gunshot wounds......) and I'm guessing there is a lot of very useful alternative health information (including about diet) that is very informative and worth reading out there on the Net. I feel a book purchase or two or over 60 coming on from Amazon.
RIP Ann Boroch - who I'd never heard of before and if she healed herself of MS some while back with diet then stuff to learn here - but now I have:)0
