Bulk buying for me means spending enough to qualify for various discounts etc. rather than buying a whole/half animal though I did nearly buy half a pig once.... If what you've got works ok for you why change 'cos once you have more freezer space believe me you will fill it ;):D

That is my fear. I have an overflow store for tinned stuff precisely for when things are on offer or buying four tins is as cheap as one. Problem is I forget what is in there because it isn't on show and end up with stuff well beyond use by date.

A friend bought me some posh chutneys several Christmases ago and I found them when putting away the posh jams I got last year and even though they are sealed I was too worried about things that were several years past the use by

I do that. I dislike my kitchen cupboards immensely - can't see what's in there, food's dotted here and there...I'd LOVE one larder, where all the food is on display, easily jiggled around/moved and spotted. With tiny kitchen units nothing fits and you end up packing it all in tightly then shutting the door quick!

Talking of which, I must stop forgetting I still have four carrots to eat! They' wrapped in a green bag in the cupboard... so out of sight, out of mind.

Chutneys are fine. They're boiled, with vinegars....they'll outlive all of us!

    I've been a glutton tonight :o
I think the technical term is Comfort Eating....

    In this order since 5pm:

A whole Packet of fake white chocolate covered Oreo biscuits.
    A pint of milk.

x 2 slices of toast, butter and marmalade

A nuked bowl of frozen broccoli, green beans and peas with a third of a Camembert round melted on top and a dollop of ketchup

The remaining third of Camembert sliced with a dollop of pickle

x 2 slices of toast, butter and X 2 laughing cow triangles.

    A handful of peanuts.
A plain yoghurt with a large spoonful of mixed seeds and a sprinkle of sugar ......

    :o:(

Well at least I attempted to be healthy halfway through the evening with some veg

Well, you've got carbs, fat, protein and the vitamins and minerals from the veg, so that makes it well balanced :). It sounds nice, you've had toast, biscuits and cheese all things that I love :).

At least you have eaten today, it balances out the days that you haven't managed to eat much at all if anything so that's got to be good.

And no left overs that you have got to decide what to do with :)

    Thanks Holly :D

Putting it the way you did makes it sound not quite as bad as it did as I was writing it :o:)

Good morning CFOers. I was absent yesterday as I have two new members of the SunnyG household! 2 girl cats called Millie, aged 10, and Maisie, aged 8. They are black and white and very pretty. They did belong to a friend of my daughters who have a 12 month old little boy who has severe allergies, eczema and asthma so they were looking for a new home for them where they could stay together and be in a family again. My daughter introduced me to the couple last night and the cats came home with me. There has been a certain amount of hissing and growling at the resident cat and dog but they all survived their first night! :D My house really is like a retirement home for elderly animals now lol.

No CFO yesterday as I was feeding my daughter too but I defrosted 2 portions of spag bol anyway and sent her to work this morning with a portion of chilli for lunch.

I will be having cheese on toast for lunch with some celery soup that I made on Tuesday evening and keema for tea as I got that and a chilli out for my daughter so she could choose which one she wanted.

Reading the freezer discussion with interest too. I don't buy joint of meat anymore unless I know the family are coming and I'll cook them to be eaten in full on the day. I buy chicken breasts for myself, mince, casserole steak, chops, fish etc and freeze either in single portions or cook several and freeze in single portions then. I haven't changed the way I cook and what I eat really since CFO and in fact cook less often as I batch cook and it lasts me longer than if I was serving up 5 or 6 portions as I used to. I have food in the freezer that is for my monthly meal plans plus bread stuff, ice cream, milk, chips, wedges, fish fingers, a pizza and some Yorkshire puds.

Sunny here again today so I've pegged out the washing as we are forecast heavy rain from tomorrow onwards

I've not eaten today, or since last night's chicken/rice/sauce.

No idea. I've some gorgeous looking hash browns in the freezer, but they don't really go well on a plate just with some baked beans - it needs more "items from a cooked breakfast" to be added to make that look like it's a "meal".

I've removed the last bits of bread/crust from the freezer, so really need to use that today.... so I'm guessing: cheese on toast in a bit.

EDIT: I went with toasting two bits of bread, then making a sandwich from that, so the cheese wasn't grilled/melted.... but I was just keen to eat something, without the extra faff that'd be involved in moving the microwave, getting the grill out, standing and watching and waiting, waiting, waiting.......

    Good afternoon everyone,
Karcher - glad to hear you are eating, you covered all the main food groups so not too bad and more importantly it was what you fancied at the time:D
SunnyG - Happy new cats your poor old pooch will be feeling a bit outnumbered;):D. You've a big heart taking on older animals as they come with all their little ingrained habits.....

Overcast here today and not hugely warm:(, suspect the forecast of rain later is accurate.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meatballs and spaghetti last night but there are two not one portion of the meatballs and sauce spare. I'm going to freeze one and make a naughty meatball roll with cheese & lettuce with the other:D. Tonight I'm a gammon steak. I'll make a leek & parsley sauce as I love that with gammon and with some runners & peas from the garden and spuds that's dinner sorted:).

I had Greek yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast this morning. For lunch I had a toasted cheese sandwich and some salad.

I have decided to have another portion of the stew I made yesterday so that there is only one portion to freeze. I quite fancied it anyhow as it is still cold and miserable here.

I got given a lot of plums yesterday so have made crumble from some of them so that will be pudding, and there will be plum crumbles that will need to go in the freezer. More stuff for the freezer then .
