Cooking for one (Mark Two)

I too have dried porcini mushrooms in the cupboard. But I'm determined to make that risotto ... There will be some left over that I will simply add to any kind of stew/casserole. That might be a meat stew, it might be cauliflower cheese and it will most definitely be the vegetable and lentil shepherds pie that I'm planning for Friday.
As for plastic bags in the freezer, I ease my conscience by washing and reusing them. Aluminium foil might be a possibility but that's just as eco unfriendly, plus in my experience can't be reused as often as plastic as it tears.0 -

What a cougar.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:and there was me thinking just "That sounds like a nice little exchange there - bit of DIY for home-cooked meal that sounds just Apji's taste:)".
A potentially fruitful "relationship" there for both sides - win win (but not of yer romantic variety methinks:rotfl:).0 -

I've got leftover mash and leftover beans in the fridge.... I'll either eat that for lunch, or get the cheese grater out and grate some cheese to make it cheesy mash & beans.
I'll not bother putting a hotpot on .... I don't expect to be rodded by a young man today
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I had a huge pile of mash and beans last night...and I mean huge  Comfort food I call it'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
It's still pretty wild here though due to blow out in the next few hours thankfully.:) Well done MrAPJI in coming to your neighbour's rescue.:A
MTSTM - can't see why powdering the mushrooms wouldn't work
Today is my last non-CFO dayas my elder son and his gf head back to Cardiff tomorrow. They are out for lunch just now so I'm having LO lamb in a salad sarnie:). Tonight we are just having a "picky bits" meal which will hopefully use up so of the cheese mountain currently lurking in my fridge;). Tomorrow I need to give the fridge a good sort out so bits don't get overlooked:).

There was a scene in Gavin & Stacey (defence: It happened to be on ... I happened to spot this bit) ....
When Gavin went to Barry Island and met Doris the old lady next door, she was hitting on him.
Doris (died 2011) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/margaret-john-actress-acclaimed-for-her-portrayal-of-the-saucy-neighbour-doris-in-gavin-and-stacey-2202514.htmlMargaret John came into her own as a comic actress in the part of Doris, the outrageously saucy, octogenarian neighbour in the hit BBC series Gavin and Stacey who propositions the embarrassed young man, newly married, with a lascivious wink and the words, "If you are interested in that sort of thing, you know, I'm very open-minded and discreet, OK?"0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I wouldnt know Pastures....I'm in the "Whatever did I use to get all 'hot and bothered' about men for?" camp personally. Thank de lawd imo:rotfl:
Can still get very interested in any man that looks like he might do a bit of DIY for me though.....:)
Errrrm....Apji - don't suppose you're interested in vegetarian/very healthy type cuisine are ya?:rotfl:- and live anywhere in West Wales?:rotfl:
I fink the answer to that one might be a resounding "No" on both counts....oh well....:rotfl:0 -
Woken in the night by that windy Eleanor, but sun was out this morning even though still blowy
I took the chance and popped into town. A bonanza of YS offers
Iceland supplied more YS mince pies 87p for 12, last for me this Xmas, plus two mini Xmas puds, 50p each now, BBE sometime 2019, and better still, 2 small syrup sponge puds, 50p each. BBE June this year
A4da, 6 large free range eggs, 25p, with a BBE next week, which is longer than the ones in my fridge, and a spotted Richard cake, which just took my fancy, it is a small one but looks lovely, plus YS NHS newly recommend super health food of crumpets at 20p
I passed on the Large Spanish ham leg, Sirano? £10 down from £25, fancied it but not a buy for one
Plus 3 frozen ready meals for one offer at £4, one of which was liver & Colccanon mash, with the liver talk on here. All 3 Now in freezer for a CBA day
Breakfast was one of my HM yoghurts, superb now it has aged a bit
Lunch was same old cheeses salady sarnie
Dinner, with the new egg glut it has to be omelette , with I think grated cheese & sliced toms, plus LO baked beans and HM chipsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I had to take a nap again today after being up early.:o I took melatonin last night for the first time in a few days and I think that's what it was. Added to that I read a couple of chapters of a very boring book before I fell asleep.:D
I had some green tea, an orange and a bowl of Amy's soup for lunch as I woke up about 11.30.0
