and I have just eaten six leibniz biscuits and I wasn`t even hungry. Dohhh, it is that comfort eating again, as christmas gets closer. Its such an empty, hollow time
There are two times of the year I dont like - Christmas and the whole month of August.
As a single person one goes to whatever social things are fancied in the run-up to Christmas and then it all goes dead quiet for a week or two if one is single/childless.
August is also a very quiet month too.
Personally - I don't like quiet months and now I'm in area that centres round families (as compared to one that centres round singles) I dislike those quiet periods even more.
I made the decision that for quiet periods in a much quieter/worse weather area = the best approach would be to try and use those times to catch up on anything I don't want to do at busier/better weather times. Hence - right now - catching up on paperwork still and have been busily deleting away "dead" emails. Plans for next couple of weeks include all those little sodder type tasks that get put off and starting in on the "springcleaning". Generally try and use the time positively. I still manage to just "waste" a lot of time to neither "pleasure nor purpose" - but Having A Plan at least means I do something constructive with some of it.
EDIT; and yep...Kittie....I do try and say to myself "Could be a lot worse - I own my own house and, being detached, means no noise or anything coming through the walls any longer. Can eat whatever I decide I will (rather than thinking "Cant afford it or A.N. Other doesnt want it in the house). Really wide comfortable bed at night and no noise disturbing my sleep. I use my heating however much I decide to (so no "Heat or eat" dilemma - as I can do both okay). Could be a lot worse and is for a lot of people - even in this country".0 -
On a different note - and thinking of the way I'd realised anyway I'm one of those "genetic throwbacks" by the look of it (gather there's a posh word for it - ie atavism) and watching all those women-that-look-like-me in that programme on Iceland the other day
- I do wonder if one should try and eat a bit more in accordance with the predominant genes one has (even if they're throwback ones:rotfl:). Not found any links to Icelandic blogs or websites suitable for vegetarians/vegans - and they'd need to be in English anyway:rotfl: - but if anyone knows of any, then I'd be quite interested to read them.0 -
money, I eat according to my blood type, which is AB+. Some foods are positively bad for me and some are so good that they act like medicines. Hence me eating turkey and not chicken
I needed a break away when I was 40+ and went solo to iceland to join a pony trecking group. The air is so clean there, that is why they live longer, no pollutants0 -
Talking of trifles, I have tried those 'packs' but never really been keen on them somehow there's a bit too many bowls involved it seems.
I was thinking some sponge / coffee cake type slices for a 'base' and using something like 'Angel d3light' whipping, along with perhaps something in that, maybe a broken up biscuit or two ?
Topping could simply be a dash of that aerosol whipped cream I guess or custard if that way inclined.0 -
I loved trifle, always made a big bowl for christmas day, the younger ones never ate it, too figure conscious. One of my most favourite foods
Am very full after those blasted biscuits, hehe but still decided to eat the healthy spelt toast and peanut butter and am now indulging in a GnT. Tomorrow I will have a normal meal of a pork steak, stewed apple, carrot, roasted parsnips, kale and peas with gravy granule gravy. I think I will set porridge for breakfast, soak it all night in the fridge with apricots and blackcurrants and cook when I get up, in the rice cooker. If I don`t do that then I tend to head towards bitty foods and that continues all day. I am listening to my stomach these days, knowing that I cannot eat that much because I am small
Oh no, looking at the met chart, tomorrow is dull all day, no rain and not much wind, I am going to have to get out on my bike. Think I will make it a longer ride, maybe 7-8 miles, with a portion along a quiet canal track. Good job this bike of mine is robust enough, although I will have to clean the chain soon. The other side of the road has clean lanes, the tractors and milk tanker are out and about on my lanes. One reason for me moving is to get easy access onto better clean lanes and from there onto nature reserves. Going out like that is a definite pick me up0 -
Good evening everyone,
My son survived Morrisons (just:eek:) and the fridge is now groaning. Just the butcher's order to pick up tomorrow. Unlike many CFOers I'm fortunate to have lots of company over the Christmas period by boy am I dreading January when no doubt I'll have the "empty-nester" blues again:(.
Still on track to have caui cheese tonight:D (Glad yours worked ok MrAPJI:D)0 -
I removed two bread rolls from the freezer; one's on the worktop defrosting - the other one was nuked to defrost and smothered in margarine
Those chocolate cornflake cakes are too easy .... so I've been struggling to not make any more for a few days.... it could easily become a habit.
I find that if I combine ingredients they get wolfed down.
A bar of chocolate on its own can be nibbled 2 squares at a time over 3-4 days or more. Melt it and mix with cornflakes and it's gone in 2 hours.0 -
I carried on eating...a cream cheese and crisp sandwich followed the huge amount I mentioned earlier.
I've been pondering if I'm the only person who has nothing in the way of christmas sweet stuff in the house.
No chocolate, mince pies, christmas cake, trifle, biscuits or as said chocolate?
I do have some small pots of natural yogurt which was BB 16th December though :rotfl:'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -

You could always brave the shops tomorrow or Sunday for some sweet things if you fancy something.
Much as I do enjoy nice cheese a lot and have a few different ones in for the Christmas period I do have a sweet tooth, and love cake, desserts, biscuits and chocolate. In fact anything sweet.

My total current haul is: A chocolate Santa, a 250g bag of soft centre chocs, a 350g bag of chocolate fingers, a 450g box of "Extremely Chocolatey" biscuits, Walkers crisps, a cheap/big bag of salted peanuts, a cheap bag of tortilla chips. Ooh, just remembered, a box of six nice mince pies.
I am convinced others have achieved more/done better.... but I can't buy everything I see....
I've no "Xmas breakfast", nor starter, no dessert. No cake. No cheeses (just Lidl cheapest cheddar block).
That lot looks very piggy, but it works out that you have to buy more than you'd like to get the variety.... e.g. those biscuits would be good enough for 4 people to share and have a few biscuits each, I have to eat the whole box.... but I also wanted the fingers and a small box costs £1-1.50 ... but the bags of "seconds" I buy are 350g for 79p. So I had to buy all those to get them cheapest0
