I'm "saving myself" today for an "all you can eat" tomorrow....

I need to work out what's best to eat today that doesn't amount to much, but that fills me ... trying to stay under 1000 calories in as far as I can (so no sneaking a Xmas crisp or a Xmas sweet and leave the sausage rolls alone).

Pace myself today, almost starve myself tomorrow until the scoff-fest occurs....

That's what you call "a healthy balance" I think :)

I'll have toast for breakfast today. Just the one slice.
  • I've had PB on toast and only one cup of tea today, instead of my usual two.:D

I'm making fajitas today for both of us for dinner. Not sure about lunch yet.

    Good morning everyone,
Bright and chilly here this morning, what a change from yesterday:).
I'm currently enjoying a slice of toast with pate and a cuppa then it's time to wrestle with the hoover. Though I think Henry will be getting left in the cupboard and I'll use the light one:).
I've a scotch egg for lunch which I'll have with salady bits. Not sure about dinner yet - fish some way I think.
  • awol for a few days, laptop packed up completely. I need to read back properly to catch up. I did see that about deep fat fryer, I used to have one and in time they are a b***er to clean, I could justify it because of a bigger family, then I learnt about re-heating vegetable oil and the truly bad nasties that the oil turns into, so haven`t deep fried anything since then. Actifry is good btw but takes a big amount of space

So I am just about keeping up with my veggie box, in fact ordered a bigger weekly one for winter, veg plus fruit for 2-3 but it is just the incentive for me to keep juicing veggies, today was cavallo, fennel, carrots and some lemon and that is just my snack. I have mushrooms to use and celery coming soon, will be making mushroom and celery pasta sauce but not adding milk/cream until serving. This is enough for 4 meals, so I will freeze three. Later I am making hm scones as I have some double cream left from ice cream making, I love a nice scone with cream and jam

I am only through one weetabix packet, ok too but am wanting the space now, I will continue ploughing through. I have made the custard for a new box of ice cream, it lasts me a month in the freezer. In the fridge now and I will churn after waitrose has been and gone, they are bringing my christmas gin :D to add to my slowly growing christmas stash of nice things

lunch, mushroom and celery pasta with parmesan. Dark chocolate and a slice of cake from the freezer soon after. Last meal 2 halves of sd with thin spread of peanut butter and sometime in the day berry compote with stewed apple and soya yogurt

Tasks today, involves looking up to find cobwebs

The last box I bought contained 48, four packets of 12. I tore the box end flaps off and popped the box onto the top shelf of the food cupboard... and it's been there nigh on 6 months now. I have three unopened sleeves of 12 and one opened sleeve left.

As with many CFO things... once bought and opened, the box can live perpetually in the cupboard until you finally get through it all :) And then, when the space is finally freed .... some time later you replace it and start again :)

I just went through all the shops I've been in - poundland have that brand at "2 for £1". But it's the tomato ones.... oh well.

    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?query=bentos+meatballs&store=Poundland

    FOOD:

    Today's scoffathon was:
    2 bits of toast
    1 sweetie (Xmas stash)
3 large rock cakes (but I did leave the sugar out, but stuck jam on them)
    2 hot sausage rolls
    1 tomato sandwich.
With the exception (for me!) of the tomato that sounds quite yummy. :)

The MeatBalls, I'll keep an eye out. One of the smaller local shops does occasionally have offers, but they tend to not be on display its in their leaftlet. I have found sometimes at the till things were a lot less than the shelf price. Its not been the other way around thankfully. :D

The other brand I do want to try is the C+B one, it says "4Kids" on the tins when I last saw them at Morrs, however they had good reviews so they are on my 'list' anyway to try at some point.

:) The fryer is a gift not a purchase for me so the 'oven/halogen/air fryer' is still potentially on the cards for next month maybe. Talking of cleaning I did think a bit about this: If I half filled it with warm soapy water then switched it on just for long enough to 'heat' the water to say 70c (no more!) then left it for a bit to soak it may be self cleaning. I did consider safety but figured hot water (70c) is inheritently safer than it having hot fat in. Obviously I mean the "clean out" when it is actually empty and cold. :)

The acti, the paddle put me off a bit although I do see you can make the 'grill' fit most models. I had visions of the (rare) occasions I buy erm 'Uncle Bernards' turkey burgers or drumsticks, and them being mushed up. :rotfl:

Nice things = Always good. :D
I got a pack of the Protein ones just to try them out, although I've yet to open the box. I do need to gain a little bit of weight though really.

While caronc admitted the other week to doing "Christmas cleaning" and I said "never heard of it".... I do dabble about a bit. I've just dabbled a bit in the kitchen, getting all the lurking recycling outside into the proper recycling bin (I have to dry it first, which takes a long time sitting on/around the sink, by then it gets put in a "pile on the floor" until next time I remember to take it out). I did a bit of other "random cleaning" in the kitchen area to generally tidy/clean it. It's looking a lot clearer now.

I tend to leave things out if there's no actual point in putting them away again ... because the cupboard's not really got space, or "I don't want to forget I've got that/use it".

Splashings of anti bac here and there .... I even wiped the underside of the "bucket I use as a bin".

But ... that'll do for now.

The thing is, when nobody else will ever see inside your house and you live alone in a smallish house without good cupboarding - it's just so easy to leave things lying around because there's no point putting stuff away just for the sake of it ... when you've a shortage of the "right storage space for that" and/or you'll use it or need it again soon.... or there's simply nowhere better to put it.

Not sure what lunch will be yet. Can't go too mad as I'm "saving myself for tomorrow".
  • My husband came home early, but he still had his packed lunch for work so he didn't want fajitas.

I made myself two tortilla wraps for lunch with vegan chicken, half a bag of mixed salad, cherry toms and some ketchup.:)

    Two satsumas too.

I'm not what to have for dinner now.

Oh I know what you mean my pantry shelves are a disorganised chaos :rotfl: but I know where to reach to get 'tin x' or 'pack x' although at a glance it does look messy but its 'as I need'

There is no food as such in the (lack of) cupboards, they mainly have random things in apart from one full of 'regular kitchen things' like plates and whatnot.

Small lunch ? Bit more toast maybe with some beans / beans+sausage or something.

That does remind me I have seen 'beans+vegetarian' sausage tins online at least, although I do eat meat I am curious enough to have one of these to try it to see at some point, as usual 'when I see one / at a sensible price / in the mood to buy it' :) I'll quietly await some to appear locally as its low priority its mainly curiosity.

Those 'veg' sausages that were 'turkish delight similar' , they came in a green flat frozen pack rather than a plasticy bag (like Sains) or box like LM's do. I've not tried them yet though. I do have a vague idea of chopping them into quarters after microwaving them (praise to them for include zapping instructions on the box, a credit!) and mixing them into either hot chunky veg soup or some nice 'mixi mash' , depends what mood I take I suppose. :) Job for the weekend or more likely early next week.

Just had a ham salad thin for lunch with passion fruit yogurt, with a few raspberries in.

Dgson is coming for tea, so chicken bhuna , rice, and poppadoms .

Tomorrow is work, so made an extra sandwich at lunch to take with me, I will take a raspberry rice ,for afters so I can warm it up incase it's cold. I'm going out for a party night, with 5 of my friends from work, it's 3 course meal, with music and a bit of a dance, and wine.
The shopping cost more than I hoped, but I got a couple of disposable table cloths for the big day, 1 might be enough, then I can keep the other for next time, but didn't want to be short, as I put 2 tables together. I also picked up 1 of those first defence spray things incase I feel a cold brewing!!
