I'm into East European/Mediterranean foods as well, I like most of the main ingredients used in the dishes.

May I ask which of the moussaka recipes you use from the guardinan? I did a google search and it gave me a few. I always like to try different recipes and variations of dishes.

Obviously I can't answer for N2bt, I like this one https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2012/apr/05/how-to-cook-perfect-moussaka as I find easier to bake the aubergines. However, since my son met a Greek girl I make my bechamel for this with a 50/50 mix of milk and greek yoghurt and add some crumbled feta along with some grated parmesan (not authentic but that is what she uses in the uk ;)) :) His gf also quite often uses a 50/50 mix of lean beef mince & lamb mince if she can't get lean lamb mince. I must make some moussaka in the New Year :)

Yes that's the one, although I prefer to do the aubergine in a griddle pan. I do like the idea of using greek yoghurt and feta, must remember to try that next time.

We had quite a thaw going yesterday until about early afternoon when the temp dropped like a stone, and a hard frost has formed overnight. People walking this morning are avoiding the pavements, they were wet, soft and slippy yesterday, they're really treacherous this morning.

I fancy boiled egg and oatcakes for breakfast, then I'll use up the last of the corned beef in a sandwich for lunch, and have Chicken Curry and naan bread from the freezer for tea. With yesterdays meals also coming from the freezer I'm starting to get a wee bit of wriggle room in there.

    Great News.

  • That is good about the pension!:T

Tea and toast with Marmite for breakfast.

I'm making tacos with vegan chicken, peppers, red onion, lettuce and tomato later for dinner.

I'm not sure what I will have for lunch, maybe soup with the veg I have left.

Nice to hear, and that's at least two of us "in the money" this Christmas, I received confirmation yesterday regarding my older codgers free TV licence:beer: I suppose it is time off for 50+ years of good behaviour

I just could not get back to sleep this morning, woken by the wind, then thinking I must listen out for Am*zn delivery today. In the end I was making bodged mince pies at 0530. My pastry was bit too damp, but as per PN, who cares what it looks like, no points for presentation when CFO

Due to early rise, breakfast was a Spam & piccalilli sarnie, very CFO, eat what you like when you like

Early Christmas started today, I sampled one of my ugly mince pies, tasted as nice as a good looking one IMO

Weather is fine now, but must stay in just in case the A***n object needs signing for. It will fit the letter box but I just know if I go out a signature will be needed

Lunch, uncertain, not more Spam though, HM mince pie thingy & yoghurt maybe?
