My husband came home early, but he still had his packed lunch for work so he didn't want fajitas.
Is this code? Is it time to cue the dodgy 70s music?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:PS - like the description "dabbling in cleaning" - describes my approach perfectly:cool:

Anyway dabbled in some hoovering earlier and I'm now waiting for the chap to replace the oven seal to arrive. Second day I've been hanging about waiting for folk - bad planning on my part! Still it's a good excuse to have a gander at the "Mortgage-free Wannabe" forum as that's what I want to work towards..... (though it will take some time.....)

"It's turned out nice again" Was that G Formby? Dunno, but today started rainy and now sunny

Decided to get a few more Christmas bits in, most importantly I found a turkey crown in As*a, bit larger than I wanted, but decided to go for it on basis of a crown in the freezer is worth two on the web store, the freezers around here are crown less except for crowns the size of Transit vans

Plus a pack of streaky to make my own pigs in blankets, I already have the posh Heck very meaty bangers in the freezer, from back when they were on offer

I have now decided I "need" a pork pie, not any old one, has to be Melton Mowbray one, only the around a pound size though. I'll get that next week some time

    Breakfast was HM mince thingy
Lunch last of the Spam + piccalilli sarnie

Dinner, looking like LO ham, with eggs, frozen chips, grilled fresh toms & mushrooms. May turn into omelette of sorts, with grated cheese sprinkled over

Oh I know what you mean my pantry shelves are a disorganised chaos :rotfl: but I know where to reach to get 'tin x' or 'pack x' although at a glance it does look messy but its 'as I need'

There is no food as such in the (lack of) cupboards, they mainly have random things in apart from one full of 'regular kitchen things' like plates and whatnot.

Sounds like my method, one plus was whilst oiking out the flour for yesterday's mince pie making I discovered an ex bargain buy Christmas pud at the back of the cupboard. BBE mid 2018. Job saved there:T

For lunch I used my new plate for cheese and beans on toast :)
Tried it out for size/feel. It's all right, I'll get another one.
In the main I am quite happy to have a single plate of one design, but I also know how difficult it is to find another I like (at the right price) ... so long as £land haven't sold out by the time I am next in there I'll definitely get a second one.... two matching plates! Blimey.... that's a bit like "normal people"!

That's why I have all white ones, plus of course if cheap enough buy in bulk, well two at a time anyway

Just sorting out the wrinkly tomatoes from the non wrinkly for tonight's grilled tomfest. My wrinkly ones outnumber the smoothies:(

Looks like grilled toms on toast may feature sometime over the weekend

I put a beef stew in the slow cooker for dinner today, and have just had that with some mash. I love it when the smell of stew cooking starts wafting around the house, it's worth cooking it just for that :).

There are a couple of mince pies left over from the box I opened yesterday and they will get eaten at some point during the evening.

I really need to sort out my spices/herbs. I think I may have more than one of quite a few things and many that haven't been used for years! Maybe a job for sometime in the new year. I'm in procrastination mode at the moment.

For tea I went with the easy.... had a couple of the biggest of the spuds I bought (the 29p/2.5Kg bag from Mr T), topped with beans (already opened this morning) and grated cheese (why not, eh!).

A nice belly filling winter warmer.... to try to keep my mind away from the fact I have chocolates and crisps in abundance in the "Xmas food bag" hidden away.

The thing is, when nobody else will ever see inside your house and you live alone in a smallish house without good cupboarding - it's just so easy to leave things lying around because there's no point putting stuff away just for the sake of it ... when you've a shortage of the "right storage space for that" and/or you'll use it or need it again soon.... or there's simply nowhere better to put it.

    .

I dream of a kitchen where there is somewhere to store pans other than on the oven top necessitating them being moved (generally to the dining room floor) when I actually want to cook - and then back again after:(

My kitchen seems to be a place where I spend time moving things around rather than using them.

Well, I have had baked potatoes most of this week and last with a selection of different sides and protein - either freshly cooked or fried up the next day. Despite the variety I can face no more potato so have gone for a curry and rice tonight!:)

    Times is hard obviously:rotfl:

    Perhaps I should re-phrase that.....
