I'm starving.... Bixies don't actually make a meal... more a quick short-term filler. Lunch needs to be easy and I've got spuds, so I think a quick baked spud/beans/cheese is in order!!

Thanks both of you, it certainly smells good, I'm just trying to resist lifting the lid and giving it a stir!! I've got I microwave rice so will cook half of that with it, think there's enough for 2 days.

Just ate my sandwich, and decided to have some cheese and onion crisp with it !

It's milder here also though the rain has stopped and it's blowing a hooley!

If you've just got a couple of chicken breasts on it might not need until 4pm, I'd check it in an hour or so (I'm assuming if it's smelling good you've had it on for a couple of hours already.) :)

My word I need a lie down in a quiet room - still trying to unfangle my pension so have been on the phone (again:mad: ). After three frustrating calls, the fourth one may just have got somewhere, where the sensible chap I spoke to, took the unheard of step of leaving me on hold and actually going to speak to someone  ...... I'm keeping everything I can crossed that it's worked! :)

Needless to say soup has not been made....;)

Not shopping at "the right" main supermarkets, at the right times, I very rarely ever see YS items. I know I can often get bread rolls at 4ldi and very occasionally a couple of other items marked 30% - but nothing brilliant. Mr Sainsbobs is my "local supermarket" and is useless for YS stuff... I do look every time I'm in, but they really do just select the expensive high-end stuff and knock pennies off it!

My kitchen is never warm ... never mind the warmest! Especially after dark, when it gets even colder outside, then it's verging on artic.... there's no point heating a room you dash through a couple of times a day :)

Yeah, I'd agree with that - look and poke it. I can never resist.

I do large chicken and turkey roast joints, from chilled, whole (560-800grams) - and ~1 hour high and 3-4 hours low's plenty enough for a "properly and absolutely fully cooked" result.

I'd never do one less than 4 hours. If I had a "full/stuffed to the gills" pot I'd expect it to take longer.... but a couple of chicken breasts in sauce wouldn't take long.
  • Bran cereal with almond milk.

Chickpea sandwich while I was out and a packet of crisps, satsuma.

I was still a bit peckish and cold when I got in so I just had a cupasoup too.

    Boy....relating to that:cool::(:eek:

Fingers crossed very hard indeed that "This time it will work" re getting your pension sorted out.

Please tell us when we can uncross our respective fingers.....

It is difficult sometimes to "stand up for oneself". Well it blimmin' well is for those of us that are female and from a "softer" sorta background. Sighs in sympathy....

It is sometimes so so difficult to get the "conditioning" out of one's head about being that bit "softer"/more "typical woman (rather than person)" like in one's approach.

Tell me about it - I've only just had a mutual "kick up the backside" session earlier today with a "recently made friend here" session. I'm going round her place soon for a "cup of coffee/compare notes" session.

I do think it's harder for "gentler" people (who may - or may not - be female) to "get our act together" and "kick where it hurts" about people/organisations that are trying to "take the michael and deal with things on their timetable - if at all.

Fingers crossed - and wishing you luck - on this and I'm hoping there will be photos of your new bathroom up on this thread soon for us to see (ie because you've had the money to get on and get it done).

Mygawd - the "MeToo" movement is giving some of us strength in a lot of respects we could have darn well done with decades ago. Cue Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive".

    Yep.....sock it to 'em....
  • Well - that took 2 seconds flat after I posted the last one on this thread - and I've just "belted" someone (a male tradesperson) that richly deserved it (ie re work on my house in this case).

Get your courage together caron and "let 'em have it" re this.

Ohgawd - why do people do this to us and try it on?

Just pot of tea for breakfast, up late again. I think the darker mornings, plus manky weather do not help

Lunch was a part baked baguette, only because they are a fortnight past the BBE date and thinking i should use & restock before Christmas. I had it drizzled with olive oil with cheese & tomato filling

Dinner, will be salmon fillet. Ready frozen one from Lild, first timer and trying them out. Defrosting at the moment

I think served with boiled salad spuds, and not sure, either salad or more likely steamed frozen mixed veg. If I steam the veg I can pop the salmon, wrapped in tin foil, alongside them in the top of the steamer, with the spuds cooking in the base

    One pot cooking:money:

I may serve with butter or perhaps Bisto parsley sauce, from granules

No fears on that score I'm pretty assertive when I need to be, years of managing shall we say "diverse" teams and bringing up two boys honed my skills in that area :rotfl::rotfl:
PS- hope we're not going to see you plastered all over the tabloids for "belting someone" ;)
